Great vibe to this place! A live band at dinner time. Comfortable, cozy room bathed in warm light. Best bed I've slept on so far on this trip. Walking the street is fun. Because I didn't have to rush with a tour group, I got to chat with locals and take gorgeous photos of the colours and textures. Vendors aren't too pushy. Left me alone after a couple of la, shurkan (no, thanks). My only problem was in the middle of the night, my room became overpoweringly smelly with a sewage stink. I asked the night manager to come see and he said maybe it was the new paint (um, no). He checked the bathroom and then just sprayed the room with air freshner. Gack. Gack. Leaving me with no reassurance, I left the bathroom fan on, closed the bathroom door, opened the patio door ajar, threw the mesh curtain across because I didn't know what bugs are around by the Nile at night, and fell back to sleep. There was a squeegee in the bathroom when I arrived so I assume they know of the leaky toilet, which left a sizeable pool after a few hours from squeeging. Food was good. Staff helpful. Definitely will be back!

All the feel of being in Egypt, the gift of the Nile. Ahmad is exceptionally good, arranged us breakfast tuk tuk, very impressive food available. You have to experience it yourself, the Nubian way of life.

The only regret I have is that we stayed for one night because it was sold out but everything else was great staff view breakfast
