The Annex: 2 bedroom cottage, countryside, peaceful getaway with garden

Lovely setting with farm surroundings, welcome basket, attentive hosts.

Train goes past very regularly and is loud if you’re outside. Not such a problem inside.

Location/setting, welcome basket plentiful.

A little too far from amenities, but not an issue really

The location was easy to find, being an annex to the farm house parking was really easy. The host was very friendly and couldn`t do enough for us, even leaving a few goodies to welcome us

The property had character and the bathrooms were well equipped.

The lack of heating contributed considerably to our experience. The living room area was particularly cold and we had to use the fire every night/morning, purchase extra logs and it’s worth mentioning that the fireplace is unsafe. The fire surround is loose and there is no proper flap on the front of the grate to help control the heat. Additionally, upon arrival there were no towels in one of the bedrooms (the owner sent them around in fairness once we made them aware). We questioned the heating but the owner said there was no issue, just turn the radiators on which didn’t work! Thankfully there were supplementary small radiators provided which helped to heat the bedrooms. There were limited facilities provided in the kitchen, I would suggest more crockery, glasses and cutlery. Outside there is hardly any lighting from where you park your vehicle to access the house so this is tricky in autumn so make sure you have many torches. Additionally the hedges were very overgrown near the front door so this made the path quite difficult to access.
