Damaged equipment and no reply

I feel very sorry for the owner of this property because the management company (Sykes Cottages) are horrific. I booked this property for a week in July. Due to a damaged bath (which wasn’t spotted by cleaner or maintenance) the property leaked through the ceiling, damaging my computer equipment on the floor below. We then couldn’t use the bath in case it happened again. I had to leave and stay with family over an hour away. Getting hold of Sykes Cottages is very difficult - as many of their reviews say. On the second day of calling the emergency number didn’t reply at all (they say they will call within 20 minutes). I have been waiting two weeks for a reply. They have requested photos several times which I sent three times to separate email addresses. I requested a refund and to repair my damaged equipment. No reply.

The management company Sykes Cottages. Even before the damage and issues, they are VERY difficult to get hold of to talk about the booking and their WhatsApp takes several days to respond.

Location was excellent. Prosecco on arrival was a nice touch. Bed super comfy and firewood available for wood stove another nice touch.

Door under kitchen sink was broken. Shower fixture also easily came off the pole. No lighter or matches available to light fire. Couldn’t use the Netflix channel.

Loved the cottage, just what we needed. Would definitely recommend.

Bus services were superb for getting around.

Suggest putting an ornament/cushion on the 'double-depth' stair out of the back bedroom to help remind people to avoid it, and avoid a fall.

The cottage was fantastic, perfect for us, very clean and beautifully decorated, was in a great spot and close to Ambleside Centre.

Parked outside the cottage on the first night, the locals don’t like this as it is a bit narrow to get past for other cars, due to a huge rock that sticks out the side of the wall opposite the cottage. A local taxi driver stopped to explain this to me as it looks like there would be enough space for other vehicles to pass. I then parked the rest of the time in the long stay car park called Low Fold at the bottom of the hill, which was great. When booking this cottage I think it should state, no parking outside the cottage, the information book in the cottage just said no parking in front of the cottage on a Thursday as the bins get emptied and the road needs to be clear for the bin truck. The locals obviously get sick of people parking outside the cottage as one person tooted and shouted out the window at us. It was no problem parking in the long stay and I would have parked there the first night as well, if I had known how annoyed the locals would be.
