host is dishonest, fraudulently planted drug paraphernalia to keep my deposit.

Nothing since they are claiming fraudulent claims against me to keep my security deposit.

First the non-disclosed t "security deposit" that HAD to paid for after you make the booking or they refused to give you the house codes or fully cancel your reservation and send a refund. They only accept the deposit via cash app, Zelle or credit card. Once you go into the property there is MORE NON disclosed FEES that they take even more from you. Once I checked out I text the host to let them know I had cleaned as in the rules stated to get my deposit back. They told me the "cleaners" would go that day and confirm everything and send it back to me. Then asked me to leave a 10 star review of ONLY my positives. Next day im asking again about my deposit as I sent them 165 and was told I would get back 150. Was told the cleaners would be there in 30 minutes and asked about the 10 start review again. HOURS Later only after I sent hadn't gave them the review I get a message from the host fraudulently claiming we had smoked in the property and smelled of 'weed' in the home. And that they would holding my deposit and refused to give it back. When me and my husband do not do ANY type of smoking.

Do not waste your money

The pictures in the Booking.com reservation is not the same as the home I stayed in. That property I stayed in was awful. It had a Barn door for the bathroom that did not close all the way with no privacy, the kitchen is not the kitchen in those pictures, old dishes, old Burt up pots, There was dirty dishes in the sink when arrived, there was garbage in the bathroom can, tub was nasty and dirty, old nasty towels, I did not take a shower there, tv in the bedroom did not work, This home may looked like this 40-50 year ago but this is not the same home that is in those pictures. Do not waste your money on this property you will be disappointed and upset. Had the nerve to send me a text saying to wash dishes, clean the bathroom and bedrooms, dust, and take the garbage can from on the side of the house and buy it in the front of the house so the garbage man can pick it up. All that was not my job and I did not do any of that, cause I didn’t use anything, the house was dirty when I arrived. It was cheap but still wasn’t worth it cause I barely stayed there.

There wasn’t a TV in either bedroom, but it didn’t matter to me cause I don’t watch TV anyway and there’s one in the living room. So really it’s just a minor detail. And the guy I talked to said they were gonna be putting TVs in the bedroom soon.

Hidden fees and undisclosed rules resulting in more hidden fees

It was locked up well and had electricity and running water. The bare minimum for maximum price, hidden fees and extra charges. We stayed for almost 2 hours and left, never to return again.

Undisclosed security deposit, fees, and unethical business practices! After making reservations through the booking app, I was sent a message to contact the host for access to the property. The host informed me there would be a $150 security deposit and a $15 processing fee. I sent $165 through cash app to gain access to the house. Once in the house I discovered there will be a $50 fee for parking and cleaning the sheets and $100 of my security deposit would be returned if the home was not damaged. Upon inspection of the home we discovered many things that could be considered damage if the host wanted to try to use that as a reason to keep my security deposit. We spent way too much time taking pictures and video to document evidence while we were supposed to be on vacation. We decided it was not worth all the hassle and left. Also the neighborhood was in very rough shape.

Very spacious and comfortable. Location was convenient me and a friend was in town for a concert so we took a uber which was 15min from all the main attractions. House was clean neighborhood was quiet the google pics aren’t updated to the newly renovated version. Place looks a lot better in person we slept good on the mattress in first room towards right when you walk towards the bathroom. Everything was fresh and clean.

Didn’t like that it’s a security deposit but I received it back a day after check out once they verified it was no damages or broken house rules that’s pretty much simple common rules like no smoking. I recommend using Zelle or cash app because using a debit or credit card adds on a 3.8 percent sales tax to your deposit and takes 7 business days for the card company to release your money I was told. The host was very nice and was very communicative. WiFi had a strong connection for some things I had to do for work on the side so overall everything was perfect and anytime I’m in Detroit I would definitely book here again. Location seemed a little rough at first but the neighbors were actually very nice and once we were checked in and settled in we felt very safe. Also has a bbq grille in back yard with some privacy we put to use for some ribs and steaks that were another bonus

Difficult management, security deposit, you need to clean up

It’s a large house with a lot of space, and it was pretty clean.

When you arrive you need to get a hold of the manager by calling them (their voicemail was full), or texting them. They didn’t respond promptly, we had to wait about 3 hours before we could get a hold of the manager and into the property. Then they ask you for a “security deposit” of $165, of which they say they’ll keep a minimum of $15 “as a fee”, more if you pay by credit card, and maybe more if you don’t clean the house, wash the dishes, etc. before you leave. But the worst is, 3 days after our stay ended (leaving the house cleaner than we found it), we still haven’t received the deposit back. The bathroom door doesn’t really close, they have a door that rolls from the top that doesn’t cover the entrance, so when you’re on the toilet anyone in the corridor can see you (see photo). There also wasn’t any toilet paper in the bathroom when we arrived.

Only 1 exterior photo, very misleading. When I got the address after booking, the neighborhood looked awful, and I attempted to cancel the next day, but they had me on the hook and refused any partial refunds or compromises. It's a shameful bait and switch operation. They know exactly what they're doing.

The location was convenient.

I was without water for a full day. I was charged $150 deposit that I knew nothing about a before booking with a $15 service fee so $165 on top of the initial price then I was charged 25 additional dollars for parking which was another inconvenience. Told that I was not gonna receive that back until I gave my honest review. I was without water for a whole day could not shower because the facilities were horrible. The fireplace is the only source of heat so it was kind of cold the first night. I was told it was no one upstairs at the top of the house yet there were people walking around all night and the TV stayed on upstairs would never book with them again. But the location was convenient and the owner was also the maintenance man as well as the host as well as everything else. This place was horrible. The worst booking I’ve ever had through this site.

It was comfortable and spacious. Also, I love taking a hot shower and the water warmed up quickly. The area was very quiet and the neighbors were nice. The host Joshua was available anytime I needed him.

There wasn’t any hot water, very little heat and it was a cold night, extra fees that we weren’t aware of, pictures weren’t what was shown on your website, no silverware to speak of except some plastic spoons and the place was dirty. Not sure of how this place got on your website. We are very frequent Airbnb users and this is the 1st bad review we have ever had to give .

It was clean

but just old and ran down, smelled bad (old home-mold), cold (with only one gas wall heater, and one plug in heater in each bedroom). The top of bathroom sink coming off, a hole in one if bedroom door closet. Also had an electrical problem ( the Manger said we could not charge our cell phones at the same time heaters were plugged because if we did it would short the circuit throughout the whole house), and there were no working smoke detectors within whole house.

The property needs a lot of work. There was no dining table or chairs, no microwave, or coffee pot. There was a couch but the springs in it were broken. In my opinion it wasn’t ready to rent. It has potential if the inside is updated. There was a smell of mildew.

A Sub-Par Stay in the Ghetto of Detroit

There was a couch in the living room.

House located in the ghetto with an appearance that made us question our safety. Shady request for Cashapp security deposit upon arrival. No air conditioning. Only a third of a roll of toilet paper provided. No interior doors. No tables/chairs to eat/ sit. No cleaning supplies other than a broom and vacuum to be able to clean to the intensity asked of us. No toilet paper, trash bags, disinfectant or other cleaning supplies provided. Refusal to return deposit due to dissatisfaction of the clening of the house which was cleaned to the best of our ability with what little supplies we were given. No damage done to property, yet security deposit was withheld. The posting says that $150 would be collected for potential damaga to the property. He told us right off that he was going to keep $25 for cleaning. We expect $125 back but he refused to give it back and threatened to ban us off of booking.com if we spoke out about our stay. Added screen shot on what was promised but didn't get.

Caution: This is a fraud!!! there is nothing to like about.

We didn’t like the obstacles to pay the deposit and get to the door code. We didn’t have American phones or bank accounts, so we couldn’t do it. With the help of an American friend who did calls with the property owner to find a workaround and who transferred the deposit we finally got the code. (He spend hours to do this!)They didn’t tell in advance about requirements so it was too late to cancel. They have fees that are not mentioned in the list. We payed the total but never stayed there. The place was filthy, no table or chairs and was anything else but cosy. booking.com was not willing to take them from the list or reimburse the money. booking.com is not customer friendly and changes prices during the booking process all the time. I will it not use this website again.
