Characterful Cottage near the Sea, Beach, Pier & Shops

The location was excellent. Close to the town centre, buses and train station. Despite the neighbourhood not looking that good, the property was tucked away and very quiet. The beds were very comfortable . One bedroom had an outside balcony, which a good extra area .

There was some washing on a clothes horse in the dining area, that was there when we arrived and left a musty smell to the downstairs rooms. The dining room was basic and could have done with a smarter table , chairs and placemats. We were there for five nights and ate in a lot and found the eating area basic and smelly. There was no information folder at all or any recommendations of places to eat and see, public transport or how items , such as TV and cooker worked. A welcome pack, however basic, would have been a nice touch.We had spent three hours on a train in the heat and a nice drink and snack would have been good! Whilst the spiral staircase was a bit rickety and upstairs floorboards creaky, we got use to that.

The spiral staircase to access upper floor was a little steep and tight for carrying luggage to bedrooms, the sofas in the lounge were very uncomfortable, downstairs toilet facility would’ve been better.

A lovely little cottage at the end of a lane with spiral staircase and lots of period fittings.

The entrance is littered with cat fecies from the neighbouring property not the cottage owners fault. The smell of cats on the way in can be quite strong. But once inside you forget all that.

the location is shabby/scruffy

very strong smell of damp. I washed some clothes while I stayed there and they smelled of damp. I stayed in January the place was freezing! temp was set at 8 degrees and took days to reach a comfortable temperature. When I woke up in the morning my nostrils were filled with the smell of damp. Black mould on the window frames, a hot cloth and bleach spray would not go a miss. I strongly suggest the owner install a security light as at night the path to the property was pitch black, I had to navigate using the torch on my phone.
