Dar Dorra

Beautiful place, rooms were well maintained and clean. The inside was gorgeous and definitely cared for.

The staff was not the friendliest, the food on the rooftop was so-so.

Staff a little bit impersonal compared to other Dar of the same level. Breakfast although good was less authentic than others.

I stayed at the Dar Dorra which is the poor cousin of Dar El Jeld - they are connected. They are both beautiful hotels in a great location on the edge of the médina. Numerous wonderful restaurants nearby.

Driving through the old town is a nightmare to be avoided at all costs and I'm someone who drives in central Rome frequently. Also parking is a bit of a miss initially but once you discover where and how it's quite easy.

The hotel is in the middle of Medina, with a very nice rooftop. The hotel is beautifully decorated, and the room is nice and clean. The breakfast is good, and the restaurant staff are helpful. They also serve fruits, dates, and chocolate every evening.

The first impression of the hotel was terrible. First, the hotel is very difficult to find in the middle of Medina. Taxi do not go inside the Medina. I walked around in circles for a long time to find the hotel. They did not offer pick up or give instructions how to find the hotel. Then the check in experience was not pleasant. They could not check me in at 2:00 pm, the hotel regular check in time! They said the room is not ready. As far as I can tell, the hotel is not full either. I travelled to 160 countries, and have never run into a hotel that can not check me in at the regular time! At first, they offered me a drink to wait. I have very short time in Tunis, and was eager to look around. Finally, they offered me complimentary lunch at the rooftop restaurant. That was a nice gesture. And at 2:50 pm, the room was finally ready. I would not recommend this hotel, given its hard-to-find location and the unhelpful reception staff.
