Cottage in The Mumbles
Reasons to book
About this cottage rental
There isn’t parking at the property unfortunately. There is street parking nearby, which can be busy during summer months. There is also a pay and display car park nearby. There is another area where there is street parking and always spaces. It’s a couple of minutes walk down to the cottage but a steep 5 minute walk back up.
‘The Lookout’ is a compact two bedroom fisherman’s cottage on the iconic, ‘Village Lane’. It has everything you need for a memorable stay. It sleeps five but is a small fisherman’s cottage.
Before booking, please ensure that you read through the ‘other things to note’ section.
In the lounge we have a comfortable sofa which also pulls out into a sofa bed to enjoy a cosy film night. The TV in the lounge is set up with a Roku where you will be able to sign in to your Netflix account.
Kitchen has an integrated washing machine / tumble drier, fridge and freezer. There is a Nespresso coffee machine for guests to use. The kitchen is fully equipped with everything you should need to whip up a delicious feast.
If you require a travel cot and high chair, please let your hosts know who would be happy to arrange this for you but there may be an extra charge.
A one way driving system is in operation on the lane so the cottage can only be accessed at the top end coming through Western Lane. If you put our postcode into satnav, it will bring you this way. The turning down is narrow so may be a tight squeeze for larger cars or vans so may require you to undertake a 2 point turn to get the car in the correct position. You can pull up outside the house to unload your luggage.
It can be very difficult to park in Mumbles during peak seasons. You may be lucky and find a space in the streets opposite the bottom of Village Lane. There are pay and display car parks available too. Take a right when leaving Village Lane and Southend carpark will be after the park on your left. You would be most likely to find a free parking spaces in the streets surrounding the area of ‘Thistleboon’. It is only a 2 minute walk down to the cottage and a steep 5 minute walk back up to the car.
To get to Thistleboon, rather than turning left onto Village Lane, head straight up. Once you get to the top turn right and you should be able to find plenty of parking in the streets immediately after. Please see the blue highlighted area on the map in the photos section.
The steps up to the patio area at the back of the cottage are very steep and are not suitable for young children.
Smoking is completely prohibited at this property.
There is an abundance of vibrant bars, restaurants and shops all within walking distance of ‘The Lookout’. We recommend booking restaurants in advance during peak season to avoid disappointment.
Across the road there is a park, crazy golf and the Gower Seafood Hut - a must visit if you are a seafood lover.
On Newton Road, you can stock up on the essentials from M&S, Coakelys (the fresh fish shop) and Olive and Oils (our local delicatessen). Directly opposite M&S you will find Oystermouth Castle.
