Courtyard Cottage

Very central. Quirky and spacious.

On check out cleaner was very rude.

Well provisioned, cosy, great location.

Parking a little further than ideal, but not the end of the world.. Also, some came just after we arrived to “see what the place was like”, defo felt like owners checking, but could be mistaken..

The property was spot on. Clean, spacious, lots of utensils and modern. The courtyard had a private feel to it and is safe for pets. Location was really good for Ambleside.

There were no signs to the property. The postcodes in fairness (knowing what I know now) is about right, but then directions to the actual property from there are a little difficult. Also, there is free parkong with one reserved bay for the cottage, however, I was not aware of this until I entered the property and had already paid £24 for parkong in the nearby car park. This isnt a moan more an observation, and the property does list this, but getting to the cottage isnt particularly accessible. Steep ramps and short steep steps.

The location of the property is excellent right in the centre of town. However trying to locate it is another thing 🥴 we spent over an hour walking up and down the town in blistering heat after an early start and 2 hour drive ? Directions were precise enough and trying to locate it on maps on the phone was impossible. In the end with the help of a locate who had never heard of the cottage we eventually found it. Also the parking is very scary and you have to reverse your car up a steep incline and ryen walk uphill quite a bit with your luggage so all in all it was a stressful start to our trip.

The property itself needs a lot of TLC as it’s very tired looking. It could be a fabulous property as the potential is there but it’s very dated and smells a bit musty. We didn’t unpack our clothes as the furniture spelt and there were areas in the bedrooms with black patches. The carpets need replaced and pillows on sofas. The sofa is very low and it’s difficult to get up and down from. The bathroom shower leaks all over the floor and we used 3 towels to dry it up after every use. We were left 1 toilet roll, and a mini body wash and tidy soap for 4 adults for 4 days that is not enough. Also in the kitchen there was no washing up liquid or kitchen towel which we had to buy. There are notices not to put your rubbish in a black bag but to use the red ones provided but we couldn’t find any so we had to use a black one which we did and cleaned up after ourselves. We left the property clean & tidy as evpected.
