    Fantastic, magical stay!
Amazing and magical place especially if you book the igloo. We could see a starry sky with auroras, while staying in bed! Besides, in the common lounge you can meet other travelers from any part of the world and it was great to share our experiences.

Magical, romantic, and unforgettable, everything we hoped for and more.
What I loved most was how personal and thoughtful the experience felt. Tony picked us up directly from the airport and later took us back, which made everything seamless and stress free. I highly recommend purchasing the transfer. Along the way, he shared local history, helped us stop at the grocery store, and made us feel genuinely welcomed. The glass igloo was cozy, warm, and comfortable, with an incredible view of the sky. Watching the aurora from the river and later from our bed was unforgettable. The peaceful setting, friendly staff, and attention to detail made my birthday trip truly special.
The igloo is intentionally small, which was fine for us, but travelers who prefer more space might find it a bit tight. The toilet inside the igloo is best suited only for nighttime use, so you do need to walk to the main building for full facilities. Other than those minor points, there was very little not to like.

Cute vibes, fun activities, removed from town
The staff were friendly, I booked my tours through the site, the rooms are unique, you can walk across the frozen lake to Jukkasjärvi where there is a small grocery store and the ice hotel and Nutti Sami museum with reindeer you can feed, most tour groups offer pickups from here despite its distance from Kiruna, cute barrel sauna, the snow mobile tour with Daniel was amazing
It was too cloudy to see the northern lights, it’s pretty far from Kiruna (helps to see the lights, but is hard with how expensive Ubers are), rooms are a bit close together

    You must experience it
It it hands down the best experience in Kiruna for the Aurora lights. The glass igloo is perfect for couples. You get to see the magical lights from the comfort of your own bed. It was such a surreal experience. The staff are so wonderful, friendly and helpful. Shoutout to Tony and Natalie. I’d highly recommended to anyone. Loved every second of it.
For breakfast, more vegetarian options would’ve been appreciated.

Once in a lifetime amazing experience ❤️
Excellent location (minimal light pollution) for seeing the northern lights inside our cozy glass igloo. We were provided with warm suits (no extra cost) and boots so that we could walk across the frozen river and feed reindeer, visit the open air Sami museum and also visit the ice hotel (which was completely incredible). We visited during the coldest week Sweden had had for a long time and our trains were cancelled. Tony was very helpful helping us find alternatives. We did an excellent snowshoeing tour in the morning which was informative and delightful with the helpful Sony as our guide. There is a well equipped communal kitchen and communal bathrooms. We were able to cook for ourselves which was good too. This is not a luxury resort but a once in a lifetime experience in the arctic circle - as the name says, it is a camp. We were so fortunate to have a clear night and extraordinary experience of the Aurora.

    Frozen wonderland
From included airport pick up to airport drop off we had a wonderful time. We stayed 2 nights in an igloo. The camp was on the edge of a frozen river, with a large central meeting house (full set up for your own cooking and included continental breakfast) and hot showers and toilets. In the igloo there is a portable toilet (preferably only for number ones). Two minute walk between igloo and meeting house. There were 2-3 self contained saunas that you can book a time slot for (well worth it after our -25 ° C day). We walked 20-40 mins across frozen river to the Sami Village and Ice Hotel. The hosts Tony and Natalie(ia) were terrific and had great local information and can help with booking tours.
Didn’t stay long enough. Will go next time when it not so cold (-25°C). Lol.

I will strongly recommend people to stay at Aurora River Camp!
We stayed from 25/12-28/12/2025, 3 nights. The services that the staff provided were exceptional and on beyond, very helpful, responsive, and thoughtful. This place has the best of the best location to view Northern lights. During our stay, we saw the most unique and amazing Northern lights 2 nights from the site. You can see the lights from inside your Igloo cabin if you prefer to stay in your warm and cosy cabin but not missing out the lights.
None, we love this place and the services.

Incredible experience of aurora, dog sledding, snow-covered landscape and more
The glass igloo facing the river side was excellant for viewing the amazing aurora all night long while staying in the warmth. On a clear evening at dusk, a staff on site came over to let us know that the aurora has started to be visible (we had the light on after returning from a day time activity so didn't realise) - very nice of her! We went on nighttime dog sledding into the woods on another night - one of the activities that we signed up on the camp's website. It turned out the aurora was particularly intense that night and it was spectacular! The snow covered landscape was beautiful. On a cloudy (i.e. warmer) evening, we follow the marked trail from the camp site to walk to the middle of the frozen river, it was an amazing experience. The shared kitchen and dinning area has multiple tables and rooms. It was at the same time cozy and at the same time allowed us to enjoy some small chat with other visitors.
Beware of the cold and be prepare for it. Luckily we brought additional clothes and shoes for the environment. When it was clear skies, it was -27°C. When it was cloudy, it warms up to -10°C to -12°C due to greenhouse effect. Wear thick gloves or hang in front of you an insulated bag with activated hand-warmer pack inside so that you can take photos and quickly put your exposed hand(s) back in the warmth to prevent frost bite. While Kiruna / Abisko has the highest chance of clear nights in the nordic area, which we found to be the singular factor whether you see aurora or not, you should spend 4 nights there. In our case, 2 nights out of 4 are clear. There is always aurora over the area, and the moon hangs low in winter - though you still want to avoid full moon. We found weather is the most important factor.
