C’est La Vie has great potential, but a few improvements

C’est La Vie is undeniably a beautiful property, with stunning, unobstructed views of the sea and a peaceful atmosphere that makes it ideal for a relaxing getaway. The quiet surroundings were a real highlight—perfect for unwinding and enjoying nature.

We did play some music one afternoon, well before the 9pm cutoff, but unfortunately received complaints and were informed of a strict no-noise policy. It would be helpful if this was clearly communicated in advance, as it did catch us off guard. The living room fireplace was a lovely touch and added a cozy charm to the space. However, the rest of the house lacked heating, which made sleeping quite uncomfortable, especially during cooler nights. Additionally, the property ran out of toilet paper during our stay, which was unexpected and inconvenient. Considering the premium cost of the rental, I believe management should address these issues to better align the experience with the price point. That said, the staff during booking and check-in were exceptionally helpful and courteous, which we really appreciated. Overall, C’est La Vie has great potential, but a few improvements would make it truly exceptional.

The location was lovely , right by the beach.

The house its self was in need of some updating and TLC. The information should state that there is NO laundry facilities. We did use the local service which we had no problem with however we were not aware until we arrived. The outside dining table is old and needs replacing.

Paternoster is a great holiday destination, will definitely visit again!

Got forced into paying R2000 for a damaged lamp in a room not used during our stay, it was hidden well and was reported to me after we vacated. Because we did not use the room, I was never aware it was damaged. Be aware when using this agency (Stay in Paternoster) and ensure you check every inch of the premises, or you will lose your "refundable deposit".

Beautiful view and inside fire place and outside braai area. On the beach. Walking distance from most restaurants. Very comfortable beds. Gas hob and 2 rechargeable lamps. Not 100% loadshedding friendly, but luckily we took our own lamps as well.

The windows of the main bathroom, 2nd and 3rd bedrooms had closed shutters on the outside that we could not open, so it was very dark in these areas.

Fantastische Aussicht, aber in Paternoster gibt es bessere Optionen mit besserem Preis‑Leistung.

Die Lage der Wohnung war wirklich toll: direkt am Strand, mit wunderschönem Blick aufs Meer. Die Patio war einfach ideal – wir haben dort wirklich viel Zeit verbracht, und das Meeresrauschen in der Nacht war großartig. Auch die Restaurants in Paternoster bieten erstklassiges Essen. Es gibt viel zu sehen bei den Fischerbooten, die tags und nachts an dieser Stelle ins Meer hinausfahren und mit ihrem Fang zurückkehren – das war wirklich unterhaltsam. Die Alarmanlage der Wohnung, die wir beim Rausgehen und nachts für den Außenbereich aktivierten, gab uns ein Gefühl von Sicherheit – vor allem, weil sehr viele fremde Personen tags und nachts durch die Anlage liefen, was in Südafrika mit einer hohen Kriminalitätsrate nicht unerheblich ist.

Leider war der Zustand der Wohnung bei unserer Ankunft nicht akzeptabel. Sie war nicht sauber, und das Bettzeug im en‑suite Zimmer wurde offensichtlich nicht gewechselt. Sauberes Bettzeug sieht definitiv anders aus, und es waren sogar Spuren von Nasensekret zu sehen. Auch die Geschirrtücher waren dreckig. Die Wohnung war zudem um 14:00 Uhr, zur offiziellen Check‑in‑Zeit, nicht bezugsfertig, was zusätzlich frustrierend war. Die Küche war ebenfalls nicht sauber, und es gab keinerlei Reinigungsmaterialien. Die Spülmaschine müsste dringend gereinigt werden; sie wusch weder sauber noch war das Geschirr trocken. Auch wenn es eine Selbst‑Catering‑Unterkunft ist, ist es unrealistisch, dass Gäste Reinigungsmittel- und zeug wie Müllbeutel und Spültücher für den Zeitraum selbst mitbringen sollen. Die Wohnung hat keine Waschmaschine, was wir wussten aber trotzdem unpraktisch ist. Die Fischerboote direkt vor der Tür und die nächtlichen Partys am Strand waren extrem laut. Die Anlage wird von einer Ferienwohnungs‑Agentur verwaltet, die Security am Gate war wirklich schlecht: Es kamen nicht nur Gäste rein, sondern auch fremde Autos, die bis spät abends laute Musik am Strand, direkt vor dem Haus am Strand, spielten. Unser Mietwagen wurde zudem von Kindern aus der Umgebung, die Tag und Nacht ungehindert durch die Anlage liefen, mit einem Stein beworfen.
