If you are looking for a paradise hideaway, you have found it in this beautiful six-bedroom/six-full and two-half bath home that invites you to revel in stunning coastal views from two decks that have the most oceanfront footage in town and from a ship’s watch tower perch. Be amazed by magical moments spotting dolphins in the ocean on your beds, in the great room, dining room, at the ship's watch tower, and on the decks!
From the ground up, DOLPHINS' WATCH artfully blends the island’s natural surroundings with amenities designed to provide a soothing and relaxing retreat. Enjoy the pleasantly warm water of an oceanside solar-heated pool and the even warmer therapeutic waters of a nearby hot tub. Two outdoor showers — one open and one private — are perfect for rinsing off the little ones before they make a splash in their special kiddie pool. For convenience, a bathroom is located on the lower level, down the hall from the laundry area and the home’s first master bedroom which features a queen, a set of bunk beds, a TV, and a full bathroom.
Four of the home’s six master bedrooms occupy the mid-level: two kings and two queens. All of these bedrooms feature TVs and direct access to an ocean-facing furnished deck, perfect for catching the moments the sun rises, a star shoots across the sky, or a fishing boat cruises by the coastline. There is also a game room on this level featuring a loveseat, a TV, ice hockey game and a Pac-Man® game machine.
The final bedroom is located on the upper level, a king master featuring a spacious ensuite bathroom with a Whirlpool tub, spacious shower, TV, and direct access to a private ocean-facing deck. Climb the steps to the first level of the ship’s watch tower where a full-size sofa, two rocking chairs, a bar table, and a coffee table offer another relaxing space with gorgeous expansive ocean views. The listing way oversells the house and I walked away feeling like we paid too much. It’s in need of a ton of work—seems like they spent all the budget on plastic plants and mermaids from Home Goods. Paint is peeling everywhere, inside and out. Lots of very obvious quick fixes through the home.
Upon arrival we found out that the front door wouldn’t actually stay closed because it was missing screws. To the rental agency’s credit, they fixed it quickly, but the fact that this is even an issue that we encountered is indicative of the lack of care and attention that has been given to this property.
The house was filthy (food on dishes and utensils, for example). The pool was falling apart (tiles falling off, huge disgusting stain in the middle of the pool). Multiple people cut themselves on cabinet doors throughout the week. None of the showers or baths properly drain, so you are standing in a pool when you shower. They also do not provide bath mats, a serious safety issue, especially when they barely provide enough towels—we requested them but no one ever got back to us or brought them by the home.
Check-in isn’t until 6pm or later, and you have to wait for a text the day of to let you know when you can go to the house. They cite that this is “due to their high standard of cleanliness,” which is a total joke and major inconvenience for people traveling from out of state. Plus you basically lose an entire day you’re paying for since checkout is 10am.
