A very pleasant experience. Nadya at the reception welcomed me warmly, explained all the details about the place, and even offered me a cup of coffee. The rooms are not stuffy, and each room has its own bathroom. There is a kitchen where you can cook something if you need to. The common area looks bright, and you’ll meet many other travelers there. Very positive atmosphere.

Stayed for 5 nights. Bathrooms were always clean, modern. Kitchen clean but very outdated, even the plastic cups were smelling old, was slightly disgusted with it. Luckily I didn't cook there. Wooden bunk beds: was hard to get on & off the upper bed. Stayed 2 night in 6 beds dorm, almost claustrophobic. No space in between beds. Then moved to 10 beds one, had more space, but AC wasn't working for the last night. Extremely hot to sleep, even in May. Had muly issues with the management, bad communication. Took a sloth tour, stuff didn't advice me that there's no transportation. Missed the 10 am tour just because of that. Then asked then to modify it to 8 am the following day. Asked stuff if it was confirmed, they said yes. In the morning took an Uber to get there and nobody was waiting for me. They didn't commit the change if time with the tour guide. He was extremely helpful, took a quick shower and we started. It turned out to be a private one.He went out if his way and helped me to take as many pictures as we could with both phone and regular camera. I saw a poison frog and bats as well. Sloths were sleeping, but still was able to see them clearly. Took another tour with hostel to Rio Celeste which was great. Really worth it. Had an issue with breakfast that delayed my early morning Arenal Volcano hike. Another communication issue between stuff: Booked a 7 am tour but breakfast starts at 7:30. At first they refused to prepare breakfast for me earlier then that. But then another stuff member reassured me that they will prepare sandwiches instead and I asked in particular if it was communicated with the owners who prepare the breakfast, they said yes, they know and they are aware. The next morning the owners arrived around 7 am but nobody started to prepare sandwiches. Then I approached them and they said that it wasn't communicated to them. So by the time my sandwich was ready the guy already passed by to pick me up. They requested that he would be back to pick me up but he never came. Luckily the owner offered to drive me there in her own car which was a 15-20 min ride. Very thoughtful. On the last night somebody took my food from the basket which was labeled. Not a big deal but still bothersome since the grocery store was already closed when I discovered it and I planned to take it with me on my 3 hrs ride back to San Jose.
