Alpha Arenal Hostel

Meteen bij het inchecken werd ik heel vriendelijk ontvangen! Er worden veel tours aangeboden vanuit het hostel en Wilson helpt je ook aan informatie als je zelf op pad wilt! De keuken had alles wat ik nodig had om af en toe zelf wat te maken en zowel buiten als binnen kon je lekker zitten. Lokatie ook top: het centrum met winkels en restaurants is op loopafstand! Kortom echt een top tijd gehad in La Fortuna en zou zeker nog een keer teruggaan naar dit hostel!

Located a few blocks off the main area means this hostel is pretty quiet while still being close enough to downtown. The air conditioning worked well.

Beds were very squeaky if you moved the slightest bit. Also, every time we came in the room there were drain fly larvae all over the bathroom. This was really the only real complaint. Other than the drain fly larvae this was an acceptable place to lay your head between adventures in La Fortuna.

Alpha Arenal Hostel has a good location in La Fortuna, and the staff were friendly during my stay. The hostel was generally clean, and it can be a decent budget option for travelers looking to save money. However, there were a couple of significant drawbacks. There was only one shared toilet available for a large number of guests, which often meant waiting and made the facilities feel overcrowded. Also, there is no air conditioning in the dormitory bunk-bed rooms. The rooms can get quite warm, especially at night, which made sleeping less comfortable. For these reasons I will not stay there again. Overall, it’s an acceptable budget hostel, but the limited bathroom facilities and lack of air conditioning are important things to consider before booking.
