About this apartment rental

Step back in time and enjoy staying in the recently restored, iconic, Gilbaugh building and walk to all the best places to eat, drink and recreate in downtown Astoria. This well appointed, 2-bd 1-bath flat boasts beautiful period architecture. Located in the historic district, the flat is 1 block from the Ft. George Brewery and Heritage Museum and a couple of blocks from the Maritime Museum, Reachbreak Brewing, Bowpicker, Riverwalk and many others.

Although close to everything, we maintain a quiet separation from the bustle of downtown in an area of historic architecture making the location perfect for your next Astoria visit. Commercially zoned, permitted and lovingly restored, this flat is maintained, owned and operated by Astorians. Our area serves a mix of both long-term and short-term tenants so we appreciate quiet respect for the neighbors. Park on-street and walk to everything.

This historic craftsman apartment is located in Astoria's historic district where a variety of beautifully restored Victorian, Mediterranean, Tudor and Craftsman homes and buildings can be seen.

This is an older building (over 100 years old) with original, restored wood floors. In this lower flat, there may be some sounds like foot traffic from the tenants on the floor above. If you find this a disturbance, we provide white noise machines in the bedrooms as well as ear plugs. Also note; we discourage running or stomping in this flat as it can be heard throughout the building.

If you have mobility concerns you should know that the unit is located on the first floor but still requires you climb 23 stairs from street to the front door.

This property was perfectly located and very comfortable for a family of four. The listing doesn’t specifically say that it has water views, but the photo showing the river out the front window is outdated and misleading- it should be removed from the listing.

The place was neat and clean. We had a comfortable stay. No water views though. Construction of a new building across the street blocked the water. Super close to everything. Great location for sure.

One of the main reasons that we rented this apartment was for the river view, which is clearly shown in several pictures in the listing for the unit, and is mentioned in many of the customer reviews. When we arrived and found that there is no river view at all (I’m guessing due to the new construction across the street), we were very upset and felt like we’d been misled. The house manual provided in the unit even refers to it as “Historic Riverview Downtown Flat No. 1.” The fact that the river view pictures are still shown in the listing and that there is no notification for renters looking at reviews to alert them that this unit no longer has a river view is a significant oversight. We would not have rented the property if we had known there was no view. In addition, we were disappointed with overall cleanliness: dust on surfaces, grease on the stove & dirty drip pans, some crumbs/dead bugs/food spatters on floors, mildew-stained shower curtains, dirty windows. The heater wasn’t working when we arrived & the unit was cold. We did get it working, but it’s very loud. Also the entry walkway was littered with trash, dog poop, and gross water draining onto the sidewalk.Be aware that there is still loud construction noise occurring across the street during the day.The unit is very cute & cozy, the bed was comfy, and the location is great - very walkable. But it needs a good clean and the listing needs to be clear that there’s no longer any view.
