About this house rental
Fabulous location in the Sombrero Beach area of the Middle Keys. Sombrero Beach is one of the Florida Keys jewels, oceanfront with a stunning natural sandy beach shoreline, one of the most popular beach locations in the Keys and all within walking distance of this 4-bedroom pool home on the open shore with stunning views to the east. Wake up to spectacular sunrises, is there a better way to start your day of adventure?
A private fishing pier extends from the shore out to the platform at the end. A great spot for fun fishing, small boat dockage in good weather or to just jump in and snorkel (there is a convenient ladder to use) or just stretch-out on the deck and enjoy the sun and the sound of water moving under the dock.
The home is delightful and spacious, two levels with the main living areas and two bedrooms on the top floor and two bedrooms on the first level with a great room for relaxation. On the first floor you can enjoy TV entertainment or movies together after hours with three roomy couches or use the foosball table for fun family playing and competitions. Step out the back sliding glass doors to a covered porch with seating and views of the pool and waterfront beyond and stairs to the back yard.
The top floor also has stunning views of the open water from the living areas, kitchen and master bedroom in addition to the extensive covered porch. The second bedroom on this level has a queen size bed and bath with direct access to the bedroom as well as serving as a hall bath.
The spacious master bedroom has a king size bed with a window wall of sliding glass doors providing access to the porch and great views of the open water beyond. A bath private to the master has a soaking tub and separate walk-in shower.
The living area has generous seating to gather after a great day out and about, to share stories or plan for tomorrow's adventures or simply relax and watch TV entertainment. Another window wall of sliding glass doors leads out to the covered porch and views of the pool below and the dock and ocean beyond.
The kitchen and dining area finishes the upstairs common areas and it is charming with everything a cook and their helpers could want. The cook gets to share in the views while preparing meals and the kitchen is set up comfortably for the main cook to have helpers without them getting underfoot. A bar height countertop on the island is a great spot to pass dishes and food to easily set the table for meals.
The dining table runs the length of the window wall in this room for great dining atmosphere. A sliding glass door at the side gives easy access to carry meals out to the covered porch for outdoor dining. Sunrises for breakfast and sunset backlighting for dinner!
The best of all may be the outdoor areas, a lovely 13’ x 28’ freshwater pool with a waterfall effect and a free-standing hot tub just steps away. There is a convenient outdoor shower to rinse off the salt if you have been in the ocean before enjoying the pool or spa or to rinse snorkel gear. A fun adult swing set sits close to the shore as well as two darling Tiki Huts to give shade while you enjoy the views up close and personal!

Overall property is as advertised. As others mentioned, can’t get into beach as it’s full of seaweed but it doesn’t smell, so that a plus! Swings and pool were a hit with kids. Our issues were more the little things, there were 6 of us staying, only had 3 washcloths on the property, 6 beach towels so we had to constantly wash. The master shower was clogged when we got there and not clean, seeing other peoples hair in the corners is pretty gross to be honest. They did send someone after we mentioned it but that was Monday, we notified on Saturday night and were told we could clean it ourselves. Sorry but I’m not cleaning other peoples hair out of a drain trap. The 2 mini split ac units in the basement didn’t work on arrival and they didn’t even try to get them working while we were there, so the basement was warm the whole time and we didn’t use it. None of the light switches are labeled so hard to figure out how to turn everything on/off and overall just a lot of them didn’t work (the main living room fan is random and can’t be controlled without the lights on too). Pool was almost a little too warm on the nice days, but at night was perfect! (We paid for the pool to be heated). Side door the key doesn’t work in it, so only can go in/out through front door, but it has the keyless entry, not sure why we have to stop to pickup keys with that feature. We’ve never had to do that. Pickup/drop off was easy, just another step in the process.

We rented the place for 2 weeks. The house was well equipped especially in the kitchen. Pool and hot tub were great to have as you couldn’t swim from the beach behind the house as it is shallow and muddy. We heated the pool and thought it was worth the extra cost. Plenty of chairs for the pool and tiki areas. Dock was fun for seeing stars at night and for fishing ( caught snook, jacks and small barracudas). Beds were comfortable, very clean place. If you need to reboot the WIFI router (either because it’s running slow or XFinity is doing work in area) it’s in the kitchen cabinet to the left of the fridge. We’ll be looking to stay here again next year.

Great location, love the size of the bedrooms, very clean. Kitty was great to work with. Nice touch with the welcome gift pack. Our friends really enjoyed the views, the pool and hot tub.

The amenities were ok in general, but it was advertised with a "private sandy beach". Yes it was there...under 18 inches of dead seaweed. When I called the host regarding the seaweed, she said she could see some sand in the photos I sent (the tide was out and you would have to walk through 12 feet of 18-inch seaweed she said it is winter, that happens and they don't have a beach raking vendor. The private sandy beach is why we booked here and not where we had (cheaper) in other areas where we had in past years.The host seemed bothered by us.
