    Not the best looking hostel but it gets the job done. Beds are comfy. Bathroom (en-suite) is okay. Nothing special. Breakfast is nice. Had a toastie. Location is AMAZING. Right in the middle of the high street but tucked away nicely (no noise). Receptionist helped with booking yala national park and drop off in Hiriketiya which was lovely. Recommend for a short stay (2-3nights)

    Had a great stay at Downtown Hostels Ella — definitely great value for money. The location is a huge plus, right in the heart of downtown and close to everything you’d need. That said, a bit of improvement in customer service and attentiveness, especially at the front desk, would make the experience even better. Overall, still a solid choice for staying in Ella.

    I met many new people there who traveled with me from Kandy to Ella on the same train, and we eventually ended up staying at the same place. It was conveniently located near the railway station and in the downtown area.
