RATHNA RESIDENCY - Near US CONSULATE

I booked a Deluxe Triple Bedroom at Rathna Residency for my niece, who attended the NEET training at Kamarajar Arangam. We chose Rathna Residency because of its reputation, and I have no complaints about the hotel itself. The ambience, cleanliness, and overall stay were very good. However, I was disappointed with the breakfast policy. We paid around ₹15,500 for a two-night stay (approximately ₹7,750 per night), but no complimentary breakfast was included. When I asked the reception, they explained that since three people were staying in the room, they could not provide complimentary breakfast and that breakfast for the extra occupant would need to be paid for separately. My concern is that I specifically booked a Deluxe Triple Bedroom, which is designed to accommodate three guests. The room category itself indicates triple occupancy, and whether one, two, or three people stay in the room should not affect the amenities included with the booking. It does not mean that the third occupant is staying as a complimentary guest. For a reputed hotel like Rathna Residency, I expected complimentary breakfast to be included, especially considering the room category and the amount paid. This was disappointing and didn't expect response from Rathna Residency. We also came to know that other guests who stayed at the hotel for the same purpose had booked their rooms at a much lower price and were provided with complimentary breakfast. In our case, we paid a significantly higher amount through Agoda, yet no complimentary breakfast was included. It is disappointing that guests who paid less received better benefits, while we, despite paying more, did not receive the same. Just imagine how our niece felt when she learned that others staying at the same hotel had breakfast included, while she had to pay extra despite our paying a higher room rate.

I was in the city for a wedding. Slept well. Clean hotel. Great food n service. Got hot water early in the morning. Good standards.

I noticed a mosquito when I entered at 8:30 pm and I didn’t think much of it. The problem worsened by 4 am and was terrible in the morning. When I told Mr. Kishore Pandian about it, he didn’t do anything about it and said he will talk to the manager (who wasn’t available at 12 noon). A fellow guest agreed with me and said their room also had issues. He promised to follow up the same day and I haven’t heard back yet. I find it impossible to believe that the hotel staff doesn’t notice the mosquito infested lobbies and corridors, the dead mosquitoes killed by guests on the furniture/floors/sheets in all these days. Why do you have wait to be told when the problem is obvious? Anyone who has ever walked through the lobbies can see and tell how bad the problem is. Also recommend inspecting the rooms once in a while. I don’t think fumigation has been done in months and this hotel is in a state of neglect. Do they take liability for any viral infections triggered by mosquito bites? This is below the bar for a hotel room at a nightly rate of 5k. I wouldn’t recommend the stay to anyone.
