Mountain View Lodge

3rd time staying here. I really like it. I was in room 6 this time and had an ensuite. I was pleased to see a desk fan in the room as that was something I found lacking last year. I slept like a log every night and the other guests were very quiet. The building is accessible with a ramp right up to the door. The kitchen has everything you need with boxes for each room to store groceries in the fridge. I will be back next year again.

The place was very clean and comfortable and had very good facilities - for parking, making meals, storing food. Once you got into the lodge you felt very welcome . The room was well furnished, bed very comfortable, very clean. The dining area was well organised , spacious, light and clean.

At the time of booking I did not get the impression that the lodge was unattended by staff. The information about having to prepay extra £75 against any damage prior to arrival was not clear and written in very small print. The request to pay the deposit came via email which I did not pick up straight away. It would have been much more helpful to get a text on the phone about the deposit. So more clear explanation at the point of booking as to what to expect on arrival regarding the security code for the key to enter the lodge would have been very helpful. We were glad that there were other guests in the dining room who experienced this situation too and helped us. We had to call a contact number and pay the deposit. This went smoothly and a very friendly person on the phone dealt with providing the security code for the key lock The deposit is fully refundable if no damage is caused. We were informed about the refund of the deposit a couple of hours after we left the lodge.

Loved the concept, especially the self catering aspect. It's lovely lodge, great layout. Its location was perfect for the reason of our trip. Shop was not too far. Easily accessible by walk. Great location for outing. Near to Newcastle and Tullymore Park and 10 minutes away from Newcastle city center. The room with mountain view was great. The people who were staying were very nice, helpful, respectful and clean and that made a great difference to our experience. The overall experience could have have been better, if it was not for the noise from traffic. Will definitely go back and try another room with its own bathroom :-)

Common area appliances, especially the fridge/freezer. There was barely room for all the occupant. The freezer was not working and shelves/drawers were broken. There was not staff to speak to. No facility in bathroom to put tooth brush/toothpaste The room was equipped with the bare minimum. Honestly the place need a bit of tlc. The family room faced a very busy road side, making it very hard to sleep. We had to leave a day earlier because of lack of sleep.
