Lovely hosts, in a most stunning location. Gorgeous property

Lorna and Martin welcomed us warmly and graciously when we arrived in the late afternoon, after a long country drive. They immediately treated us to tea and cookies in their inviting and cosy home, which was a lovely touch. Our room was beautiful with every convenience. I must mention that the breakfast was outstanding as was the warmth of our two lovely hosts. We learned much about the Scottish border towns!

Lovely house and garden, enjoyable time with hosts and fellow guests!

The hosts were delightful and most welcoming and helpful. They couldn’t have done more for us. The breakfast was excellent and supper adequate.

A lovely stay that made our trip to the Borders

We enjoyed Martin and Lorna's hospitality, the amazing breakfasts, waking to the Dawn chorus, the lovely rural location (but within easy reach) and the wee dram in the evening.

Short but very relaxing

Breakfast was wonderful. So much it just kept on coming. Healthy option. All fresh and very appetising. Eaten in front of a lovely log burner. Martin and Lorna were lovely hosts and got up early to make our breakfast as we were leaving for a funeral in Edinburgh.

Lovely place to stay with a great host.

Wonderful host, very friendly and helpful, we were greeted with tea/coffee and biscuits which he then produced each afternoon of our stay. The breakfast was excellent. We were invited to use the family lounge, with wood fire in the evenings. The courtesy tray in the room had biscuits and chocolates as well as the normal tea and coffee.

I've had to think hard to find anything to say here, but a shelf in the shower room at waist height, on which to put tooth cleaning things and similar would have been very useful.

Warm friendly and comfortable stay.

Martin gave us a warm friendly welcome. We felt relaxed and very well looked after during our short stay. Room was very comfortable and nothing was too much trouble. Breakfast was amazing. Beautiful surroundings, log fire , music and all that you could want to start your day. Totally recommend staying here and wouldn't hesitate to stay again.

we loved the stay and great place as a base for borders

my wife was unsure 'guest house' but a luxury guest house and she was surprised about location and accommodation exceeding her expectations hence she slept like a log!! Hosts were lovely,accomodating and attentive esp when we are both Deaf. Martin likes a wee banter or two with myself and also tells good interesting stories! If we are back in that area of borders then deffo head to stay at that place - for anyone - should head there! good health brekkies enjoyed by us!

The highest quality welcome with breakfasts to match.

The location is excellent, just right for exploration of the Border Abbeys. The welcome was warm and very helpful, and it was good fortune to share the welcoming tea and shortbread with another couple, also guests, who were congenial and easy. The expected 'house party' feel was pleasant for us, but it might be difficult if the other guests were either too intrusive, or in some way unmannerly. The breakfasts [the healthy option with warm croissants and a particularly sharp and agreeable berry 'smoothie'] were most welcome. The sitting-room [with log fire] was a pleasant place in which to read. The extra large double bed was comfortable in repose. The en-suite was almost just right, an excellent facility. The garden was a delight to behold, clearly like the house, a labour of love. Congratulations to Martin and Lorna in creating a Guest House of quality and warmth. The hosts' recommendations regarding places in which to eat locally was accurate and perceptive. We enjoyed a pleasant pub supper on the first evening and fine-dining on the second.

The bed-frame : it was painful getting out of a very low bed, in which the extremely comfortable mattress had sunk into the frame of the highest quality wooden structure. For an elderly person with a touch of immobility, not to mention being overweight, getting out of bed was not easy. Perhaps there should be a warning that the beds are really quite low. Getting out of bed was just a little painful, which I did not mention as there seemed to be no obvious remedy, and it seemed to me a design problem. Regarding the en-suite- no shelving; what do with one's travel bags etc. I liked the grounds, the ambience, the positive friendliness of Martin and Lorna, and the other guests were most pleasant, but when on holiday one wants to be free from questions, and to enjoy a degree of 'anonymity', not to engage in professional conversation. Nor, does one want to be unforthcoming, or stand-offish in any way, but the 'warm fellowship' which is clearly a feature [and in which the hosts excel] is perhaps a forum for less enigmatic souls and those who, for whatever reason, prefer a touch of the incognito.

Relaxing stay at Broomfields Country House

Very friendly hosts - helpful and hospitable. Accommodation very homely and comfortable. Breakfasts were excellent - the healthy option, different from the usual fry-up but delicious and very filling! The rural location is stunning, close to Scotts View.
