Cozy & for families: Arc de Triomf/Born/Ciutadella

The host was welcoming and very communicative. Overall the stay was great however, these few things brought the rating down:-restroom, very small. -restroom had mold at the baseboards in the bathroom. —living room. Couldn’t sit on the couch without the whole futon rolling out to a bed.-sewage/fruit flies. In the bathroom and kitchen. Lots of good things to note:-four beds, plus sofa couch. -great location.-overall quite in the neighborhood and apartment. -all appliances worked well. -safe neighborhood. -Easy check in process.-great host.

Excellent location, and very clean. The only drawback were the stairs, which was a bit difficult with our luggage, as the apartment is on the third floor. But the owner was very fair and give us a discount for the non working elevator which was being repaired during our stay. Otherwise a very positive experience.

This was a perfect, central location for touring Barcelona. Even though it felt like it was in the heart of the city, it was quiet. The beds were comfortable and it was well stocked.

Pros: easy check-in process, great location that put us within 15-20 min walk to many sites and restaurants, air conditioning was excellent!! City noise was not an issue. Cons: We were disappointed as soon as we walked through the door. There is a lot of construction on the ground floor, with trash and debris around. We were told ahead of time about possible construction noise, but no one was ever there doing work as far as we could tell. We were bothered more by neighbor noise (loud music and barking dogs early in AM). The stairs were hazardous, and you have to climb several floors with your luggage and no hand railing (it’s loose and broken from the construction). This was tough even though we just had one backpack and one small carry on suitcase. Once inside, we did not find the cleanliness to be up to standard. The walls are extremely dirty, not white like in the pictures. It just needs paint or for someone to wipe them, but this place looks neglected. Floors were a bit dirty. 2 of the 3 bedrooms had stained sheets and blankets. The pillows we were given were as thin as napkins, not what is pictured. The couch in the living room was musty and damp and did not look like pictures. This was not a place to get rest or have privacy especially is you are traveling with others. Two of the bedrooms share a glass wall, so if the light is on in one room you are keeping up the people in the other room. We tried to put a (stained) blanket over but it didn’t help. The third bedroom would be flooded by sunlight as soon as the sun comes up because it would shine through from the living room even with the curtains pulled. The door to the bathroom doesn’t lock and only one person can be in there at a time (meaning there is no privacy door that separates the toilet from the sink or shower) We weren’t looking for luxury, we don’t expect that renting an apartment in a very old city. But after a long day/night of enjoying Barcelona it was important to us to be able to return to a clean, comfortable place where we could get some rest and this unfortunately was not it.
