On smaller loch ard, near Loch Lomond, this hotel is off the beaten path. It’s beautiful and peaceful with amazing views of the water from every window. The hosts are so welcoming and we wish we would have planned to stay longer. They also saved us a lot of driving time by letting is know of a road closure that wasn’t on google maps. The food was good also but I can’t say enough about the hospitality.

Lovely location. The service at breakfast and dinner was very slow. The dinner option was very disappointing and overpriced, compared to other restaurants that we visited in the area. House keeping was very lacklustre, bed not made, towels not changed, coffee and water in the room not replaced.

We went for our 10th anniversary as a surprise for my wife. She was blown away with the setting and the views in particular. The staff were top notch, our glasses were never empty and Alison and her team was always on hand to assist. Wee bonuses were: hot tub available at all times, a small beach area by the loch, and the quality of dining options available. There are a good few options of places to eat within a 5 mile radius, but we chose to eat here both nights as the menu was tempting, the view of Ben Lomond whilst eating was a plus, and the food was delicious of course. Even the basic hotel stuff was done to the highest standard. Lost of fantastic hotels let themselves down with poorly maintained bathrooms, like broken tiles, empty soap dispensers etc. But none of that here, everything was presented in a welcoming and polished manner. They do things right here. Oh and the robot lawn mowers will captivate you. A must visit 10/10

The area was stunning and right on a loch which was a bonus. The hotel itself we think could do with some updates as it is old. The food wasn’t that great and both of us struggled to finish our meals. Our room was comfortable and well presented. Small touches would have been nice like labelling the bathroom dispensers. The website is also out of date and some hotel features aren’t available anymore. Room 10 you also have to walk through the kitchen & out behind the storage area to get to it

This property is just a few miles outside of Aberfoyle next to Loch Ard. The house is gorgeous with a lovely dining room, living room, sunroom and patio. It even has a little stream which runs down next to the patio. It is gated and quite safe. Beautiful views from the rooms and the patio - even the dining room has a view! Breakfast both days was wonderful, and dinner very good, although we did not dine there the second night as we were out and about all day. Our hostess was wonderful and gave much attention to small details. Would highly recommend this house for a 2 to 3 night stay!

Altskeith Country House on Loch Ard was delightful! Sitting on the shores of Lake Ard & with a beautiful view of the Scottish mountains, I really can’t imagine any place prettier. Allison & her husband, who run the place are a dynamic duo. Allison has decorated the inn beautifully & the rooms are complete with thick pillows & scrumptious comforters. Her husband is chef & makes wonderful meals. (We didn’t meet him but thoroughly enjoyed his menu.) Staying at Altskeith Country House was a highlight of our trip. Thank you Allison! (. BTW… it’s also a wedding venue. I can’t imagine any place better!)

Fantastic stay, very warm welcome on arrival, the bridal suite was a perfect romantic setting with views across the loch. The reception rooms were warm and comforting again with fantastic views to enjoy next to a cosy log fire. The food was fantastic, the chef, Yaz, clearly passionate and took the time to show us around his smokery where he smokes his own salmon, very reasonably priced at around £16 a main course. Amanda was an amazing host, lovely to chat to and giving recommendations of ,coal sites to go and see. Would 100% go back again.

The view of the loch was spectacular. The room was modern and clean, the quality of the bedding and fixtures etc throughout were top notch, no expense had been spared. I slept really well but my husband was disturbed by noises from the other rooms. It was a shame that they didn’t do evening meals.

This is a hidden diamond in the ruff. Lots of history. Right across from beautiful park. Good walk before dinner. Dinner and breakfast was good. Do try the in house smoked salmon with eggs for breakfast. Delicious. Loch Ard in the morning on a clear calm day, amazing. So beautiful.

Absolutely amazing experience, our favorite place , quiet by the Loch Ard, great room with extremely comfortable beds, view on the lake . Relaxing atmosphere, with salon and sun room to relax. Very thick and comfy robe, coffee, tea, home made biscuit , milk and water in the hall right outside our room . Very good breakfast, excellent communication with the owner, just overall awesomeness

We stayed one night to break our journey home from the northern highlands. We had not stayed at the hotel before, but we could not have been made more welcome. The food was excellent, as was our room. The hotel is a wedding venue at weekends and we were not sure just what to expect. As it turned out we had one of the most pleasant stays we have had for some years. The location is stunning. We certainly hope to stay here again.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Altskeith House, so relaxing with immaculate attention to detail is every respect. The comfortable interior is charming and overlooks the stunning garden and loch. The meals were excellently prepared and presented both at dinner and at breakfast, but the smoked salmon (home smoked) was outstanding.
