The house was very clean and well equipped for our stay of 5 nights in Barfleur. We were only two in our party but there’s plenty of room for a family with a second bedroom. The second bedroom has thoughtful additions such as children’s books and a chest full of games and puzzles.
We enjoyed our stay in this area of France on the Normandy coast and explored the coastal walks each day. September is out of holiday season and so uncrowded and a quiet area for relaxing. Beautiful sandy beaches within walking distance of the house. Further afield within only 20 - 45 minutes drive from Barfleur there’s a choice of destinations. Dramatic rocky headlands to explore and interesting local history. We enjoyed a visit to the french artist J.F. Millet’s birthplace. A step back in time in a coastal village on the cliffs. And there is Cherbourg to visit if it’s a rainy day.
Bakery and Carrefour supermarket within 5 minutes walk of the house. Barfleur is an attractive fishing harbour. Had a delicious lunch at Cafe de France - a popular restaurant alongside 2/3 others still open in September.
Natalie our host was very warm and welcoming when she met us and was very quick to respond to any of our questions.
