    This hostel is in a great location, but other than that it’s extremely uncomfortable. I’ve hostel hopped over all of Japan and this was by far my most uncomfortable hostel experience. Rock hard mattress with a super super creaky bed frame. Dirtyish common area. No towel provided even for a fee. I left a day early to go to another hostel and I lost that money.

    This is a lovely guesthouse. The host is friendly and helpful. The hostel looks like it was recently furnished. The bedding is traditional and rather thin (think half the thickness of an american style futon. People with back problems may find it too hard to sleep on. There are steep narrow stairs up to the bedrooms.

    Good location within Gion, walking distance from the metro, convenience store, restaurants and sights. I appreciated that each bed came with plenty of storage. However cleanliness was not good. I stayed 4 nights and felt like the communal sink/mirror area was not cleaned once. There are also lots of random products lying around, likely left behind by guests. Tidying up would make this place so much better.
