Small but well-appointed apartment, with comfortable beds. Lots of stairs and no elevator (which was fine, just be aware). Lively neighborhood but not too noisy to sleep.

Be aware there are 3 flights of stairs and no lift. May be a challenge if you have heavy bags.

The apartment was well located for walking into the central historical area of Porto, and for the main metro station (Trindade). Although we never met her in person, our host Maria provided useful information both before and during our visit. It was helpful to have key codes for both the external and internal doors because it enabled the two of us to come and go separately when required.
The accommodation was described as a one-bedroom apartment but it was a studio apartment (bed-sit), the only other room being the bathroom. There was limited storage space for clothes etc and limited crockery/cutlery available. A couple of lights in the apartment did not work and the bathroom light failed halfway through our visit; this was reported to Maria but the light was never repaired so the bathroom remained in darkness for the last three days of our stay.
