Make your home away from home at this Shady Grove retreat on 2.5 acres nestled in surrounding mountains. The perfect log cabin-style basecamp for year-round adventure, this three-bedroom hideaway boasts convenient access to all types of outdoor recreation and a suite of private features designed for family-friendly comfort and endless entertainment. Surrounded by aspen trees, the large, fully enclosed front yard for dogs and a large, gorgeously landscaped backyard are furnished for upscale outdoor living. Features include an outdoor covered tropical bar area, a seven-person hot tub with Shaw Mountain views, a spacious covered front porch, and an oversized covered backyard deck complete with a gas grill and dining table set for six and lounging chairs for enjoying the views.
Inside, unwind after the day's adventures with a warming drink beside the fireplace in the family room, or kick back with your favorite shows and movies on the second living room's smart TV. Listen to your favorite playlists using the Bluetooth sound system anytime. The spacious island kitchen features plenty of counter space and a full suite of major appliances for home cooking, including a dishwasher for easy cleanup. Helpful extras include cooking spices, pans, pots, a coffee maker, and a pantry. The eight-person dining table sets the stage for family meals and game nights, with a selection of classic board games provided. Additional perks include free high-speed WiFi, a private washer/dryer, and a new queen sofa bed.

Damage waiver: The total cost of your reservation for this Property includes a nightly damage waiver fee, plus tax if applicable (the “Damage Waiver”). (A discount may be applied for stays of 28 nights or longer, if permitted.) The Damage Waiver covers you for up to $3,000 of accidental damage to the Property or its contents (such as furniture, fixtures, and appliances) as long as you report the incident to the host prior to checking out. The Damage Waiver fee eliminates the need for a traditional security deposit.

We had no sound on the tv. We text the number and was told someone would contact us. No one ever did.

It was nice and well stocked with essentials. My only issue is with the bedding, it was old and pitted. The towels were okay, but not soft. The back yard and patio were very nice.

We had been looking forward to our stay with Vacasa, but unfortunately, our experience was overshadowed by the way our situation was handled.
Our hometown of Kerrville, TX had just suffered devastating flooding, and we were actively involved in recovery efforts with our local church—receiving and distributing supplies to help our community. Naturally, we didn’t feel right leaving for vacation just one week after such a disaster. We contacted Vacasa to request either a date change or a refund.
Yes, we understand we did not purchase travel insurance—but we had hoped that under such extreme and clearly unforeseen circumstances, Vacasa would show some flexibility and compassion.
Instead, we were met with a cold response from the property manager. Rather than acknowledging the situation, we were simply told there was “no flooding in South Fork” and then provided a rigid list of cancellation policies. It felt dismissive and deeply frustrating, especially during such a difficult time.
We believe companies like Vacasa need to be more human in how they handle genuine emergencies. Policies are important—but so is empathy. A little understanding goes a long way.
We hope Vacasa reflects on this and considers adopting more compassionate policies for situations where guests are truly facing hardship.
