Staff was so nice, loved the live music brunch on the terrace on Sunday!

I was very disappointed by my experience at the hotel and spa. I booked this hotel because I wanted a spa day after hiking Acatenango. I booked spa services for 4P, as check in was 3P and wanted time to shower. The spa reached out and asked if I could come @ 3P and advised they would try and have my room ready and if not I could shower in the spa beforehand. When I arrived at 1P, my room was not ready, which was fine, but then they said I could also not use the spa to shower. I left the property to grab lunch while I waited for 3P to check-in. When I arrived back, the front desk told me they told “my friend” that my room was ready early, expecting him to tell me? I was not traveling with a friend, I had simply said hello to another traveler waiting for their room to be ready. The front desk had my number and should have called me. When I checked in at 3P I told them I needed time to shower before my treatments, as I had spent the last 30 hours hiking. Although the shower was beautiful & clean, the conditioner dispenser was not working. Before going into my spa service I asked the front desk to fix the dispenser so I could take a real shower before my morning flight. They told me they sent someone, yet when I took a shower the next day, it was still not working. Now onto the spa treatment. What a disappoint. I booked a water “ritual” which was just them putting me in a room with a jacuzzi, sauna and steam room and told me to move freely and they would tell me when my time was up. I advised the booking said there was an order to the ritual and they said I could bring my cell phone in to keep track of timing to move to next water source. Eventually the offered to have someone let me know timing. When I advised them I didn’t want that service, they said I would still be charged because they had to use electricity to turn on the equipment. At this point it was 40 minutes after my 3p booking and I had made 7p plans, so I asked that we begin the massage. The massage was pretty disappointing but fine for the money. I then had a mini facial which was highlight of the experience, but I could not tell a difference from the before to after. Now the foot massage, it was TERRIBLE. I was expecting a deep tissue foot massage, instead what I got was 20 minutes of her lightly pulling on my toes, an absolute waste of money. They reached out afterwards and told me they would waive the water ritual, which I did appreciate. They also offered to have a to-go breakfast for me since I would be missing the one included in my booking, that meal was also extremely disappointing, it was a sandwich I was afraid to eat and a browning banana and small apple. If you’re hiking and looking for a relaxing spa day, I do not recommend this property, it was anything but.
