    I have stayed here on 3 occasions. Staff are professional, friendly and helpful. The rooms are wonderful, quiet and close to public transport. The beds are comfortable and the bathrooms fully equipped. This place ticks all the boxes.

    There is no doubt about the convenience of this hotel but it has charm that goes well beyond that of it's location. The hotel is a repurposed Art Deco building of considerable merrit. It is also surrounded by a cluster of apartments with the same style. The effect is like being enclosed in a Time Capsule. More significantly the interior has a moody cosy appeal with an exceptional collection of framed prints. To their credit someone at Quest has also included a number of paintings by Jeffrey Makin. They are quite extraordinary. The rooms are a little quirky aand the ensuites may not suit everyone but the effect is refreshingly good for a small boutique hotel. There are always thing that could be improved in any hotel.. The AC is not great but the general experience of staying at the East Melb Quest was great. Those that enjoy admiring art & architecture will not be disappointed.

    For the price this Quest is a fine place to stay for a night or two Clean, well located, but It’s a bit dated. The bed was very low-almost like a high mattress on the floor, and extra firm. Linen was nice. Kitchen well equipped. Also note there is no lobby, just a front desk area, so nowhere to sit with friends, and reception closes around 5pm.

    The basin in the bathroom was blocked and would not drain, so I was met with undrained dirty water the next morning (twice!). The cord on the blind in the kitchenette area was broken, so blind could not be raised. Only one uncomfortable seat in TV area so unable to comfortably watch TV. - Very small TV screen in bedroom section of the room so unsuitable for movie watching. No extra blanket in cupboard. This room was NOT value for money. Very disappointing to travel 4000 kms from Darwin to Melb. and pay over ***for this unsatisfactory room
