We’ve been coming to Marina El Cid in Puerto Morelos for more than 12 years, starting when our kids were little and continuing now that they’re adults. We’ve always tried to stay loyal to the resort because of the memories we’ve made there over the years. Unfortunately, over the last few visits, we’ve noticed a decline in the level of service. One of the biggest disappointments is that there doesn’t seem to be much recognition for returning guests, even after staying there for so many years. Instead, it often feels like the focus is on upselling as soon as you arrive. The service in general has also seemed less attentive than it used to be, which has been difficult to see after being loyal guests for so long. At this point, we feel this will probably be our last stay. One other thing to be aware of is the vendors around the pool area. We paid in advance for painted porcelain pieces and were told the vendor would be there the next day, which was also our departure day, so we could pick them up. They never showed up. When we contacted the concierge for help, we were told the vendor was not affiliated with the hotel, even though they operate directly on the resort property by the pool. Very little was done to help us recover the items we had already paid for. Considering how many years we’ve been coming to the resort, that was especially disappointing. We have a lot of great memories from Marina El Cid, which makes it even more unfortunate to feel that the experience has changed so much over the years.

Resorts are incredible and food is amazing. The staff is top-notch, but if you’re coming for a beach, it’s not this place.

This was my 30th birthday trip, and it couldn’t have gone better! The food was excellent, room was great, staff was friendly, and I wouldn’t change a thing!
