    The stay transported us back to a time of by gone era namely the furniture and the whole decorative perspective from the ground floor to the room. Its un-modernisation has kept its signature look as a grand unspoilt hotel by gadgetry. It was exceptionally clean in the common areas and the room. Unexpected room offering was a large twin and such a large double and with tissue boxes and so many coffee, tea, milk tea, and sugar and a kettle of course. With a hair dryer and so much storage space. The bathrooms x 2 were exceptionally big. Could not believe 2 bathrooms offered both ensuite. The age group here is on the rather U3A side but it is highly thought of in my mind. There is certainly something gracefully nostalgic. Although no meals taken there, the menu looks highly appetising. This place reminded me of what it could have been like when people of means (money) would stay in such grand places. Definitely quiet here and car parking is in abundance. Made me feel quite comfortable and so many towels provided you needed not to ask for too many on a 4 day stay. As for value for money for all what we got, it was phenomenal on price. The bar staff are very attentive and the prices in the bar are affordable. It is in a tranquil setting off road shrouded with forestry and could not speak more highly of this place. Please visit, it is near within 5 minutes of the high quality food eateries in town which get quiet busy and car parks are plentiful. Easy access within 20 mins to the Bowness, Steam Railway, Aquarium at Lakeside (the Lakes), and the boat cruises at Lake Windemere. It is most certainly a grand experience and certainly made me think I was grand!

    The bed was very uncomfortable you good feel the mattress springs. You could hear the full conversation of people walking outside in the corridor. Breakfast was empty as 3 coach parties had been in. Unfortunately the hotel is tired back in the day I’m sure it was grand but needs money spending on it.
