This is a lovely hotel/spa in a rather remote but lovely restful location. Staff were all excellent, except no help offered to move our luggage - perhaps you need to ask. We stayed here twice approx 25 years ago when it seemed luxurious but the room we had (same room number as 25 years ago!) has hardly changed and now feels dated, especially the bathroom (small shower, narrow bath). The pools (x3) and spa are a beautiful facility. The breakfast was good but the restaurant dinner menu choices were disappointing (especially for vegetarians).

Very calm location with a super relaxing atmosphere. Great views and pretty property with lots of sun loungers , an indoor and outdoor pool and the birds singing as your background music. Very much enjoyed our stay. Come here to relax.

This hotel is in the middle of nowhere. Half an hour drive down terrible roads to any sort of restaurant. The in house food is dull for breakfast, all frozen items, nothing fresh. The evening menu is an expensive Etruscan gourmet selection, with no options for a simple dish. The parking facilities were atrocious and totally inadequate and there was absolutely nothing to do there. The scenery is pleasant on a sunny day, but it’s nothing special. It seems like the owners have put no effort at all into this place. I really don’t recommend going there.

I booked a Prestige room after looking at the room choices on the website. It looked beautiful. Bright and airy in pastel colours with a huge window. Instead the prestige room we got did not appear anywhere on the website. It was large but dark and old school decor. Nothing like the room pictured. Also the bathroom had a disgusting odour which was sewer gas. They were able to fix the problem promptly though which we were very happy about. We were told to reserve early for on site dining as limited space and popular. It was a terrible dinner. The service was amateurish, we almost had to beg for a glass of wine. The food was cold and rushed. We have been to Italy many times and eaten in many different types of restaurants and never been in and out in 45 minutes. Not acceptable. We decided to cancel our second night and were told the residence manager would follow up with an email as he was busy when we checked out but he would want to know our experience. There was no follow up. The reception staff were very pleasant and helpful and dealt with the bathroom issue quickly to resolve the situation. Lovely location but when so far away from restaurants we wanted to have an enjoyable meal where we were. Would not recommend based on our restaurant experience.

This place is a true gem in Umbria. We found it on accident when looking for a place to stay in the area. To our surprise, we were greeted with open arms by the staff and treated to a most delightful room overlooking the Umbrian countryside. The spa, the pools and the gardens, our magnificent. In fact, we left the area to look for Real Estate and stayed a night away from this property. We found ourselves missing this place and decided to return immediately.

The hotel is very beautiful in a very beautiful location. The staff is very warm and provides good service overall. However, the room shown in the photos is much better than the one we were given. I chose a PRESTIGE ROOM based on the photos, and (seeing the real photos) ours was very dark and confined. The bathroom didn't have a window, and when you turn on the light, a very noisy exhaust fan comes on.

The property is in a beautiful Umbrian setting, very peaceful and quiet. The rooms are lovely, with one caveat: ours had a half-step up to the bathroom I didn't notice, so I tripped and hurt my arm -- the staff should bring this to guests' attention so they don't get hurt. Also, the breakfast needs more vegan options that aren't sweets. But a fabulous stay even so.

It’s quite far away from everything but it’s the heaven in Italy. Very nice and helpful staff. They carry 4 of our 30 kg luggages up to 3 rd floor. Recommend to book with half board. Food here is fantastic. I recommend to order many things and share because all the food here is great and awesome. Steak is very big like 300 g , so beware of the big potion of food if you are Asia. Don’t order side dish if you ordered beef cuz it will come the same thing and you have them double. You will know what I’m taking about when you get there . Room is so comfy and historical. I like here a lot. Too bad that we reach 19:00 at night and leave early morning. I will definitely go back. Highly recommend

We selected this hotel with a view of making it a base for exploration of Umbria and Tuscany. It is set in beautiful country side and captures the charm of Umbria.The location is in Panicale county, but some 16 kms from the town. The hotel is to be found after traversing narrow roads and partly on gravel, which may make it a challenge at night. The nearest restaurants are more than 5kms away,which makes the dining options at the hotel important. There are two restaurants, one being open every second night. In the 6 nights we were there the menu did not change and there were no specials. Service was variable, at times attentive and other times less so. The rooms were spacious, though the service was lacking. Only on one evening was bottle water offered, even though we stayed in a suite. The bathroom amenities were somewhat limited and there was an issue with replacing the shower cap and makeup removal pads. It is the absence of these little touches that make the difference for a resort style hotel.

Lovely hotel in a beautiful rural location (need own transport) amongst olive groves and with extremely friendly and helpful staff. Beautiful terraces and pools for sunny weather (we had a week of rain and cold unfortunately!) and lots of walking immediately from hotel. Great breakfast buffet each morning, and can eat dinner in hotel restaurant (we felt food was good but expensive, and we wanted to try local Umbrian restaurants).

If you are looking for traditional appointments with large rooms with frescoed walls and beautiful views this is the place for you. This was our second visit to Monte Solare and it was even better the second time. It is excellent value for money. Don't be put off by the gravel road near the end of your journey up the mountain. The arrival is worth the bumps. My only quibble relates to the restaurant. Unfortunately the chef has a very heavy hand when it comes to salt. Diners should be allowed to season to their tastes.

Beautiful hotel with stunning pool and warm welcome. Our room was lovely and well equipped. Slightly annoying lights on PIR in bathroom which meant need to dance in shower/ bath to prevent them turning off mid wash but added to entertainment Restaurant was disappointing and expensive- very formal atmosphere, extremely limited menu and c €18 each for very mediocre buffet appetisers and only two choices of main plus steak at €90 for two very off putting. Breakfast very good however and really good restaurants in Panicale are a good alternative do dont let restaurant put you off

We had a very relaxing break with delicious food and wine, a good massage and friendly, helpful staff. While it was a luxurious experience, it was not brash, was small and understated. We were able to visit Assisi and Perugia which were within an hour's reach by taxi. We hadn't appreciated how secluded it was and how reliant we would be on a car or taxi to get to almost anywhere else. The hotel's website mentioned a shuttle; that, however, just meant that they were able to arrange a taxi.

Not easy to find, but worth the effort. Stylish Agroturismo hotel with great staff. We stayed in the annexe under the spa and next to the laundry room. Comfortable and spacious but lacked the traditional class of the main house.

We booked this hotel at the last minute to fill a one night gap in our tour visiting Florence, Perugia and Siena. It was the most expensive we stayed in but it was also the best. Staff were attentive and efficient. We were offered a "free up grade" to a room in the "Limonaia" which was excellent. We did not have time to use all the hotel's facilities and it was a bit too cold to swim in the pool. However, although the location is remote there are great views of the surrounding area. It's well worth doing the short (but fairly strenuous) walk from the hotel to get good views of lake Trasimeno. Fish from the lake appears on the restaurant menu. The restaurant was very good but not cheap. Staff were excellent. There's no real alternative for eating as the nearest town is about 8 or 10 km away. Breakfast was included and was good. This hotel is in a beautiful area. It's well off the beaten track but worth a detour.

The location of this hotel and the skill and attentiveness of the staff and excellent food service would recommend it to any traveler. I was a solo female traveler and for the most part was accomodated well. There was a bit of weirdness the first night I was there when I walked into the diningroom and after an uncomfortable moment with the waitstaff was shown to the empty breakfast room as an alternative to the diningroom. It was quite awful, but when I said I would rather be in the diningroom, I was shown to a table and the service was good, if a bit awkward. Everything else about this hotel was subperb, but it was obvious that a woman visiting alone was not normal. If you are a couple this hotel is outstanding and if you are traveling solo, it's good. The front desk staff were great! It was just the diningroom staff that seemed completely uncomfortable with a solo female guest.
