Cozy stay in a family-run traditional guesthouse

The beds were really comfortable and the whole place was tastefully furnished. The breakfast was abundant, delicious, and the staff very nice. We also loved the dinner we had in the restaurant.

The only thing is google maps tries to bring you down a tiny lane that is not accessible, so if there could be a note from the hotel with correct directions that would be helpful.

Okay for one night

Location , parking , ground floor room , the staff was also very welcoming .

Thread bare towels , shower tray almost over flowed when showering , patched up ceiling in the room which was also very dated unlike the photos shown .

Couldn’t have asked for a nicer more cozy and comfortable place to stay in Unkel. Super friendly staff, wonderful continental breakfast. Conveniently located by the Rhein River it was so picturesque.

The car park was not big enough so the owner let me use his own garage for my car.

Nothing to complain, I had a great stay, the people are very friendly, communicative and helpful, they also accommodated great vegan options both for dinner and breakfast. I'd love to come back for a longer stay someday.

Good hotel, lovely community.

Great location in the community. A block from the river and another block from the centre. Lovely old building. Renovated rooms were spacious and comfortable. Great bike storage in nearby shed. Awesome value for money. Recommended.

Breakfast was okay. Items were not replaced on a timely basis. The dining space was great.

Good

The front desk person knocked at my door at 6 AM and requested that I move my car immediately. I parked in the yard in the spot indicated by the front desk person that served the reception desk the night I arrived telling me it is fine. Very very confusing to be woken up and 6 AM and having to run outside in pajamas in the snow because they can't coordinate.

Restful stay

Friendly welcome. Calm and comfortable room and evening restaurant quality excellent. Breakfast was a great start to the day. Great town to stay on the Rhine as main road and railway are not near the river. Interesting independent shops with craft and galleries. Interesting association with Willy Brandt. Really good value for money. Parking easy and free just ignore the no vehicles sign on Frankfurter Str into the old town . I didn’t notice at first that underneath it said “except hotel guests”

Great stay, good impression, enjoyable

We have got two rooms. One room was historical which was a nice surprise. The other room was renovated with new bathroom. The personnel is very friendly. The beds are comfortable. We like breakfast and had a nice dinner in connected restaurant Zur Traube. Parking is in the inner yard just next to the entrance. Unkel old town is small but nice to take a walk along the Rhine riverbank in the evening. We spent some time in bigger and impressive old town situated nearby (Linz am Rhein).

The historical room has a bit outdated bathroom but it is ok. Also, you can hear the room next door very well. All in all it is not really disadvantage, just take into account. It is an old and historical hotel.

Pleasant hotel in an attractive town by the Rhine. Breakfast buffet rather than the plated offering that has become more common. Good.

Very displeased to arrive on a Wednesday to discover that the kitchen was closed and no dinner. As it turned out there was a very good wine bar nearby and in the hot weather rather better than a hotel dinner would have been. There is parking. Not easy in the small space in a medium sized car used for this trip. Would have been a nightmare in my LandCruiser.

Great value for money and very comfortable

Very comfortable rooms with decent bathroom facilities. Lots of wooden furnishings. I especially enjoyed the breakfast with some regional ingredients. Great value for money!

Nice gasthof but the town was dead

Good value, decent breakfast, very close to river, polite staff.

It had a air of formality. Everything was kind of Germanic old school. Not bad, just not very interesting. The town itself was dead, most of the bars, restaurants and cafes were closed. I guess Covid has the tourists staying away.w

Very good stay, close to Rhine

Close to Rhein in a nice village. There is a lovely garden for evening meal. Very good breakfast tailored to your requests. Easy check-in, spacious room. Definetely will come again.
