Maria's House

The perfect stay in Greece! We couldn’t have been more welcome and looked after. George and his family greeted us with freshly baked cake and ensured we had all we needed throughout our stay. Perfectly situated and only a 10 minute walk to the beach and local restaurants. For the price we can’t believe how perfect this was for a group of four! We will be back and would recommend to anyone thinking about staying in Kefalonia!

Staying at Maria's House was like staying with family. They were all so welcoming and generous. Nothing was too much trouble. Maria had made a cake for our arrival and the bottle of wine, water and fruit left in the fridge for us were much appreciated. We even learned a little Greek dancing. We will definitely return.

I loved everything about Maria’s house but especially the hospitality extended to us by the family. Such lovely warm people who genuinely cannot do enough to help you enjoy your stay. The location is great with the supermarket being right underneath the house. The terrace was a nice spot to have breakfast, enjoy a sunrise or indeed people watch! It has the advantage of having a retractable awning when shade was needed from the sun. When in the house this is where we spent most of our time. Well equipped kitchen. Comfortable beds (I would love to know how they keep the sheets so white!). There are stairs up to the property so not a good choice if you have mobility problems. Thankfully not an issue for us. We had apricots and lemons from the garden which we were encouraged to have plus I took a few basil leaves to have with tomato salad! A stroll of about 10 minutes to the beach with all of the great beach tavernas and restaurants. A slight hill back from the beach but nothing by Kephalonian standards. If you don’t fancy the walk to the beach area there is a very good restaurant 100 yards from the house on an evening plus nearby pool bars with snacks/drinks (plus the use of the pools if using the bar). This was our first trip to Kephalonia. We made the right choice in Katelios which is a very relaxing village but hit lucky with this house made more special by the truly lovely family who own the house, all 3 generations of them. Thank you so much for the warm welcome and the hospitality throughout our stay. We will make a return visit.

Georgios and his lovely family made us so very welcome. They couldn't do more for us to make the stay with them better. Will definitely recommend and look forward to seeing them again.
