In the village of Dornumergrode, on the outskirts of the North Sea resort of Dornumersiel, our vacation home Hosnhuus awaits you for a cozy and relaxing stay by the North Sea.
Experience the North Sea breeze and the healthy, salty, iodine-rich air in absolute tranquility, just a few meters from the historic Störtebekerstraße, once known as the “Pirate’s Road.” Because in our beautiful vacation home, you’re meant to truly unwind!
In the evenings, explore the open East Frisian marshlands all the way to the summer dike and enjoy the sunset. And on the other side of the dike lies the North Sea—sometimes calm, sometimes turbulent, but always fascinating: This is where the Lower Saxony Wadden Sea National Park begins, an UNESCO World Natural Heritage Site since 2009.
The Hosnhuus vacation home is comfortable, very cozy, and very well-equipped—for example, with a washing machine and a fully equipped kitchen, including, of course, a dishwasher and a microwave.
With approximately 85 square meters of living space, the Hosnhuus vacation home can accommodate up to 6 people plus one additional toddler. This vacation home features a sheltered south-facing terrace with an outdoor fireplace and an adjacent play and sunbathing area; from here, you’ll enjoy a beautiful view of the surrounding countryside. For younger guests, there’s a sandbox in the garden that’s visible from the terrace. The Hosnhuus vacation home is located at the end of a cul-de-sac, and there are two private parking spaces in front of the house.
Dornumergrode is situated between the North Sea resort of Dornumersiel and the coastal resort of Neßmersiel. There you’ll find many spa facilities, beaches, a heated outdoor pool, the “Sturmfrei” multifunctional recreation and event center, cozy restaurants and pubs, as well as shopping options.
Dornumersiel, just a few hundred meters east of Dornumergrode, has been a North Sea resort since 1990 and features a 70,000 m² sandy beach. This Sielort is one of the oldest ports on the East Frisian coast.
We invite you to take an idyllic stroll along the Mahlbusen, a large, lake-like expanse of the Dornumersieler Tief (What is a “Tief”? For more information, please click here!). In and on the Mahlbusen, you can go fishing, paddling, and pedal boating. Dornumersiel also features a swimming beach, a heated North Sea water outdoor pool, and all the amenities you need for your spa stay.
In the thatched cottage by the sea, which features a play barn, you’ll find a reading room with a library, a fireplace lounge, table tennis, arts-and-crafts and workshop spaces, as well as seminar and lecture rooms. For our younger guests, there’s a play area, craft rooms, table tennis, foosball, and a bocce court. And if you don’t want to go without brain teasers on vacation, you can play chess outside in front of the thatched cottage by the sea.
The fishing boat and recreational boat harbor is a defining feature of our North Sea resort. Westeraccumersiel, as the harbor district of Dornumersiel is called, has the most significant flatfish catch of all East Frisian harbors. You have the opportunity to go fishing on a fishing boat or buy freshly caught fish right in the harbor.
The coastal resort of Neßmersiel is located west of Dornumersiel and is another “Siel” village with a restored Siel gate dating from 1779, a former harbor basin, and a charming glimpse into the history of East Frisian Siels from days gone by. Today, Neßmersiel is a tranquil, small coastal resort with a 25,000-square-meter sandy beach. It features a ferry terminal to the North Sea island of Baltrum and serves as the starting point for numerous mudflat hikes.
Sturmfrei is Neßmersiel’s multifunctional family recreation center with 3,000 square meters of activity space for adventure, play, fun, excitement, and entertainment. Sturmfrei offers it all under one roof: a wellness center, event center, creative center, sports center, dining center, and more. It also offers fitness, wellness, and beauty services, as well as an immersive cinema where you can feel the movies. Sturmfrei is likely the largest indoor, self-contained activity center with recreational offerings on the North Sea coast.
