We loved that Maria’s was so close to centrum. And easy to find around. We stayed only one night, so we had not the chance to use many of the facillities. We sure would like to stay there again. Lovly home and the livingroom and kitchen where for us fantastic with the big diningtable and bench.
😂 only 3 of us 6 was able to use the shower upstairs. I guess the shower is 60cm x 60cm, and the door went in to the shower. But the other bathroom was super. :) But when everything else is spot on, than who cares.. 🤗

It was a lovely house with a good location. The beds were comfortable and the bedroom decor was lovely. There was also a spacious kitchen. The host also allowed us to drop bags early which we greatly appreciated.
Unfortunately we had a few issues that impacted our rating. We were only given 2 towels for 5 adults. We messaged the host on our arrival day but didn’t receive a reply until the next day. She did apologise for the error and towels were delivered to us later in the day but it meant we didn’t have enough towels for morning showers. The other issue was slow replies to our messages. We had hoped that when we alerted our host to the lack of towels it would be addressed quickly. We do understand that such mistakes can happen but a quick response to our message would have helped resolve this before it was a major issue for us. There was also no water coming out of the hot water taps in the bathrooms. Not quite sure why.

Centrally located, comfortable and clean. Well equipped kitchen. Stylishly decorated.
Minor points but floorboards not well fitted and excessively creaky, shower in main bathroom noisy and weak flow, house faces industrial buildings though some view of the water

We were met at the house by the very friendly hostess and shown how to use stuff like wi-fi and heating. Although we were only there for one night it was very well equipped and catered for all ages. I woud definitey stay there again and look forward to it. Very convenient if you are catching the ferry since it is right by the harbour
I somehow ended up downloading the wrong address from the boking site, which was not our hostesses fault, but meant we arrived at the wrong address. However, the telephone number was right, so one phone call put things right

Keys were in a keysafe next to the door, for which I had already been given the code well in advance.
The house was very well laid out, with consideration given to locally sourced products, like the Harris Tweed bed side lamps which I thought were a nice touch. There was also a few examples of local art work on display. Regardless of tastes, it's always nice to see local busnesses supporting one another.
The kitchen was great as well, felt right at home with all the condiments and things that I always forget to buy, already in the cupboards. The beds were super comfy too and the neighborhood was nice and quiet without being too far from the town centre.
Leaving.
Stornoway is a cracking place to visit and the people are genuinely nice and very warm hearted. This was my second visit and, despite being there for work, I always feel at ease. Forget what you hear about the wind, it's really not that bad, and yes, the black pudding really is that good !
