Our room had no view. The bathroom window could not be closed leaving a large draughty gap at the bottom of the window. There was no chair in the room.

Lews Castle is a fantastic stay, you won't be sorry.

Lews Castle is an amazing place to stay. Beautiful location, spacious room and enormous bathroom. Access to the castle after hours, free parking and internal lifts make this place amazing. Management staff were very accommodating and so wonderful. Castle Museum and grounds are mush to vist.

Lews Castle is self-catering but does have a cafe available from 09:00 16:00 daily so we tended to have breakfast and an early dinner. This was our choice, but in hindsight we should have opted for a self-cater room with a kitchen, definitely remember that for next time.

Wonderful quiet and comfortable

A wonderful and unforgettable stay in Stornoway for us. We booked the Ranol apartment, which offers a magnificent view of the harbor and the bay. The kitchen was well-equipped, and everything else we needed was there, including very tasteful furnishings, a super-comfortable bed, and a modern, large bathroom. If you're not in a hurry in the morning, you can also help yourself to breakfast (not included) in the castle's café from 9 a.m. onwards. This is also highly recommended, and the staff there are very attentive and very friendly. We would gladly return anytime. Thank you very much.

Pseudo Castle Stay

We had a spacious room as it was set up for wheelchair access. The room was very modern, a comfortable bed and pillows with super hot shower and everything we needed. Christina, the manager, met us at the door and helped us to our room with our luggage. There is no reception, or concierge nor housekeeping (which is fine as we dont get new towels every day). If you need anything you ring a number. The cafe is a little 'souless' with an adequate breakfast and great staff. The location was lovely, set in beautiful gardens with woodland walks.

We didn't feel like we were staying in a castle. Our room was ultra modern. All the rooms on the ground floor seem to be used for functions and events. There were no details of the history of the castle, which we would have loved to read. I have always wanted to have a 'castle stay', but I didn't connect at all.

Great facilities and the perfect location to explore the island.

Loved the quiet location but still within walking distance of Stornoway for restaurants and shops. Great to have full facilities for self catering if you don’t want to eat out all the time.

Not the cheapest of options but having an apartment was so much better than just a bedroom in a hotel or B&B.

The curved staircase was a tad bit precarious, but it was part of the historical castle, so pretty cool as well!

Our stay was excellent. Made our visit to Lewis very special.

Very clean, showers were amazing. Views were awesome. The staff were second to none. Simon and Christina were extremely helpful and made our larger party feel very welcome.

We had to leave. But we’ll be back.

Perfect surroundings in a perfect location

Rose greeted us and was very kind and efficient as there was a misunderstanding about my name

Didn't appreciate being asked if we had paid when we left the cocktail bar by one of the barmen in front of other people. We were quite offended, but the manager smoothed things over and was very nice (I don't remember her name - a very pleasant blonde young lady)

Really nice place to stay but a few practical things could be improved

very nice place to stay, easy to walk to town. Nicely decorated, very good bed. The personel was friendly and very helpful.

There isn't much place to put your clothes, or even anything in the bathroom (no toilet lead on the toilet seat), only 4 hangers even though there is a lot of space for extra shelves to be added potentially. 2 nice seats but no table near by or cushions so I used the pillow to adjust. No desk space. The doors are fire doors which you cannot close without making a loud noise. Bedside lamps could only be switched off from the plug switch which was not easy to reach. The shower curtain was not long enough or wide enough - the shower is a system where the temperature and pressure are set by the same button, which means it's hard to adjust one without affecting the other. Most of these things could be improved in the future. Considering the price of the room and recent refurbishment, I wasn't expecting issues like that

Beautiful Lew's Castle

The property was beautiful. We toured the museum, and at night, (after they locked up the castle), we loved visiting the rooms and taking photos. Annie was a wonderful host, and met us when we arrived, and even carried my heavy suitcase up the stairs. She and the staff at the Cafe are outstanding!

I wish I'd booked a different room with direct access from the elevator. The castle steps were charming, but we're older, and would have preferred an easier access. That's our fault, not due to the staff. We didn't understand how to use the coffeemaker, so more directions would be nice.

An amazing place to stay, right in the heart of Stornoway. Wonderfully comfortable room and bathroom. Staff were helpful and friendly. Nice coffee and breakfast in the cafe downstairs.

Nice place that misses the mark.

Beautiful setting. Easy stroll into the center of town.

Really inconvenient arrangement of electrical outlets. There isn’t a single outlet near a mirror, either in the bathroom or bedroom, where one could see themselves while styling their hair. No full length mirror. Water kettle, etc are on a low bench rather than at table height. Ugly cords and modem dangling below the tv.

Beautiful apartment with lots of space, comfortable beds and linens. Each bedroom had a large ensuite.

The only slight niggle was the lack of kitchen equipment for self catering.

Lovely castle stay in beautiful surroundings.

Very nice and clean. All components were fairly new and all worked well. The kitchen was well equipped and beds were comfortable.

We had to trudge up 3 flights of stairs. However, the views were awesome.

A stunning stay that was great value.

Stunning location and building. Rooms were huge and very modern. The staff were very friendly and were very quick to respond to check us in when we called the number supplied. Great value for money and exceeded our expectations.

We loved everything but there could have been more kitchenware supplied (frying pan and larger chopping board) but we still managed with what was there.
