Thistlebank Yurt

Location. Yurt was great and comfortable with everything covered that was needed.

Narrow steep pitted lane only navigable in bottom gear. No welcome or interactions with owner in person which was odd and a bit rude. Stayed two days.Shower curtain too short by far and had to mop floor with own towels after use. No free internet and main station unavailable.Some things needed some TLC......umbrella broken, stitching on settee ripped.

Lovely 3 night stay in this yurt. We liked the access to the canal as we wanted to kayak over the aqueduct, we were able to get on the water at the bottom of the drive and over the road! Great walk up to the castle and over to Llangollen too. Bed was comfortable with quality bedding (love a feather duvet). It was cold at night but we were nice and warm with the extra blanket. The log burner was fab in the evening. Great shower, decent power and plenty of hot water. Heater in the bathroom to take the chill off if needed. Comfy seating outside. The kitchen was equipped enough, plenty of hot water for washing up. The dogs were cute, Pickle made herself at home a couple of times 😁

Nothing we didn’t like but a few suggestions: Instructions for the camping toilet would have been useful. It wasn’t flushing properly so we had to use the jug and water from the tap. This was fine but it probably needs looking at. A couple more glasses for juice (or gin) in the kitchen area would have been nice. We were lucky with the weather but I wonder if a couple of oil filled radiators would make it more comfortable overnight when it’s colder. A mirror somewhere near a plug socket in the yurt would be helpful for drying hair. And some hooks for coats etc.

Beautiful place, thoughtfully decorated. Everything you need for a comfortable stay far away from it all.

It was a good location, and inside the Yurt itself was cosy.

We felt like some of the smaller details were missed. Some examples, there was no kindling for the log burner, two half used toilet rolls, no towels. We went out and bought this ourselves. I think it’s fine if these are not provided, but for the price we paid, we did expect these things. Or maybe a heads up on the listing about no towels.
