Backup-Power Mouille Point Apartment

Key collection was less convenient than expected. The keys had to be collected from a different location rather than at the apartment itself. For guests visiting from out of town, having to navigate to a separate location before checking in could make the arrival experience unnecessarily stressful, particularly on busy event days when traffic around the stadium is heavy as was the case with us. Collecting the keys at the apartment would make for a much smoother and more welcoming check-in.

The apartment felt a little tired and could do with some TLC. The fridge door didn't close properly, despite looking as though it had. The windows also didn't seal properly and, as a result, the front door and blinds banged throughout the night whenever the wind picked up. The shower water pressure was very low. There is a hairdryer, which was appreciated, but finding the adapter was difficult. We eventually discovered it behind the bed for use with the bedside lamps. The towels were really small and could be freshened up. There was only one hook for the towels and we were two people. The toilet was leaking during our stay. To be fair, the host did offer to send someone to repair it, but as we were only there for a short stay, we decided we'd rather not spend our holiday waiting for maintenance. Overall, the apartment served its purpose because of its excellent location, but with a few relatively simple fixes and a little more attention to detail, it could be a much more comfortable place to stay.

I received a message after my booking asking what time we were checking in and to send our passport, which I emailed and said we would check in between 3-4 pm. I then received 6 messages over the next few days asking what time we were checking in. I replied to one saying between 3-4. We then get a phone call at 2pm on check in day asking when we are checking in. I also have a problem with the fact that it was not on the listing that there is major construction work going on outside the apartment with grinding, banging and drilling - it sounded like a war zone. We should have been given the option to live with this. The only notification we received the day before arrival that there is scaffolding on the outside which may block our view????? Nothing about the noise. I thought they were painting. By the time we realised this at 9am on the Monday it was too late to check out and find another apartment.
