About this house rental

Ancient farmhouse in stone of three floors perched on the hill; it offers a wonderful view over the valley. On the ground floor, you will find different environments: the old barn, transformed into a wide porch and heated by a mighty chimney, the kitchen which is equipped with white goods and dishwasher, the dining room for 8 people, and the two living rooms with satellite TV and a small library, all with chimneys. On the first floor you will find the bedrooms, all with a view over the valley. They can accommodate up to seven people. The bedrooms come in different styles: one large bedroom with a king bed, that with previous notification can accommodate a small bed for children, double bedroom with single beds and a chimney, another double bedroom. All of them have exposed beams. Lastly, a refined single bedroom with a wallpaper from the era. Two recently restored vintage bathrooms that offer wide showers; the building concludes with one laundry room. On the outside there is a garden equipped with tables and small beds, and also there are wide green spaces that are part of the farm.

Campolongo, in the heart of Italian wine country, is heaven on earth. This 4+ bedroom farmhouse is charming and comfortable beyond belief. Close to the historic city of Verona, it offers a perfect home base for exploring the richness of northern Italy. This was our second stay at Campolongo, and it won’t be our last. Grazie Stefano!

Right in the heart of Valpolicella. There were wineries everywhere, lots of name we knew and even more we didn’t. We found it well equipped with updated bathrooms and lots of hot water. Being from the 1800s the building still had lots of character that you just can’t get in new buildings. The kitchen was small but we had no problem making some great meals during our stay. The kitchen had everything we needed and the fridge was a good size. There’s no store in the little village so you should take some groceries when you go. The beds were comfy and we got great sleep while there. The views were spectacular. The hot tub was a nice touch after driving all day. Verona was 1/2 hr away Lake Garda was a bit further. The approach to the villa was a bit tight but we made it with our suv you just have to go slow in a couple of spots. I would go back again in a heartbeat.

Host Stefano was very nice and helpful. The view from the house was lovely. We unfortunately had to vacate the house the day after me moved in for the following reasons: The driveway is very narrow, very steep and bumpy (unpaved- farming access) we barely made it down to the house in our sedan and decided to park the car along the main road and walk up and down. Very inconvenient especially at night because of darkness. The difficult access was not mentioned in the description anywhere and I think it should be. If you drive an SUV you will be fine. The kitchen was the other major issue. We were quite shocked. The posting shows one picture of the kitchen and that is basically all there is. Fridge, very tiny counter space which is occupied by the microwave and espresso machine. I guess I was naive in assuming to have a decent kitchen. Making a simple breakfast turned into a problem. I had to use the window sill to prep a sandwich and cut bread. The crowning was the "sink" which is not pictured. It probably is as old as the house (1880?) and is a piece of slanted stone with a hole. The first morning I had a mouse coming up from the drain staring at me. Not very sanitary..... WIFI was very very weak - a big problem! Bedrooms were nicely decorated. Second bathroom is downstairs and you have to walk through the "barn part" to get there. Living room furniture fitted the look of the house but not very comfortable and it smelled musty. The view from the garden in front of the house is absolutely stunning and Stefano as I mentioned was very nice. Upon check in I was informed that a tractor and workers would pass right between the entrance door and the outdoor sitting area because it was cherry harvesting season. We were not aware of that fact and did not want strangers coming and going. The house has mostly good reviews. If you don't mind very rustic then its for you. As I said the host and the view are wonderful. Verona and lake Garda are close in KM but the road is very windy and it takes time to get there. Next supermarket is not very close either. We have rented many properties over the years and never had a complaint or vacated the rental. just want to spell out what our concern was. I did not contact the host before I decided to leave because there was no way to improve the issues. I had to find another rental and pay again.
