Sailors Rest, Southwold

The location is excellent (5 min walk from the Pier and beach). The house has its own driveway - super handy in Southwold. Very quiet, could hear a pin drop at night time. Art Deco fireplace is beautiful. Prosecco and biccies were a lovely touch! Towels were very nice - clean, and fluffy. Bedding was clean and crisp.

This holiday home is in need of some TLC. The wardrobe handle in the main bedroom comes off in your hand, the handle on one of the fire pokers fell off, the kitchen door is hard to close as the threshold is too high, the downstairs toilet seat shifts when you sit on it and the shelf for soap wobbles, the dimmer switch in the dining-room doesn't dim, the water comes out of the taps so slowly it took half an hour to run a bath, the big pan in the kitchen had a wobbly handle (hubbie fixed it before using it!), microwave has no power rating, and legends have rubbed off the controls for the oven. There is a smell of damp in the downstairs toilet and utility room. None of the above spolied our stay. We thought we should mention them so they can be sorted out for future guests (including ourselves!).

Location very close to seafront, which is what we wanted. House had all the basics.

The markings on the cooker had nearly all rubbed off. Not being used to a cooker like this we couldn't work it at first. That's a bit much given the cost of staying. Even Sharpie numbers would be better than almost nothing. The handle of the bathroom needs fixing. Could do with an electric plug by the main bedroom mirror. Everything else fine.
