Mcgregor House - Villa by The Bay

Gilly the host could not have been any more accommodating and a pleasure to work with. Solid, from arrival to checkout. Would highly recommend.

Nothing.. I mean, if I were to try and pick something minor, couch wasn't the most comfortable in the world.. but still worked well

2 blocks from the beach, good AC, good hot water, security gate, and attentive host.

No beach towels provided, no courtesy small water bottle provided on arrival, and no vending machine for beverages.

We stayed for 5 nights and loved our stay at the villa overall, as well as meeting Gilly and his father. Both of them are super kind. The place is well decorated and has everything one needs for a short stay. The location is easy to find, but you must show drivers the map with the full address because some of them didn’t know where it was and refused to look at the map until we begged, lol. Tip: tell them it’s in front of the cemetery, which is pretty, not scary. You can even walk through it to get to the center, btw. It’s also very close to Junkanoo Beach (though our favorite was Cabbage Beach, further away), and to a grocery store where you can find SIM cards, if helpful, but far enough from the noise.

We can’t give it a 10 because the mattress wasn’t comfortable. It sank when we lay down and moved whenever any of us moved, which gave us back pain and led to shorter nights of sleep. We solved part of it with some of the pillows, but it’s definitely far from the quality we expected. I’m also a host and offer better mattresses to my guests. Lastly, we appreciated receiving our luggage early, but it was placed inside a plastic container under direct sunlight, so some of the things inside melted, including a pair of earrings. It’s worth keeping that in mind for future guests.

Casa accogliente, pulita, spaziosa (eravamo nella stanza 7) e vicino alla spiaggia, downtown e quartiere Arawak tipico per pranzare. Il proprietario super disponibile ad aiutarci con un check in anticipato e a portarci subito il phon che mancava in stanza.

Purtroppo la posizione sembra promettente, ma non ci siamo sentiti molto al sicuro: diverse persone locali ci hanno confermato essere vicino ad una zona pericolosa, sconsigliandoci di girare a piedi con il buio, obbligandoci a spostarci sempre con i taxi anche per brevi tratte.
