Stayed in many properties in Kirkcudbright over the years this is the one I felt most comfortable in

Had a really great stay here. The property was spotless, well laid out, and felt comfortable from the moment I arrived. The location was ideal — convenient without being noisy — and the bed was genuinely comfortable, which made a big difference. The kitchen and bathroom were well equipped, and everything worked exactly as it should. Check-in was straightforward and communication was clear and responsive throughout. Overall, it felt well looked after and thoughtfully set up rather than just functional.

Location, size of house perfect for our party size

We could have had more cutlery and some oven gloves. Apart from those 2 items everything was perfect.

Beautiful, centrally located house.

Very centrally located in Kirkcudbright , which is a lovely wee town to explore. Beautiful house that was very well equipped. Great communication with owner and we really appreciated the comprehensive welcome pack. We loved it so much that we have booked it for next year.

The living room couch is not the comfiest. Just a very small point, we had to buy a washing up cloth for the kitchen.

It could be amazing if....

It is in a great location and a short walk to all the attractions and pubs. The enclosed garden was great for the dogs and for having a BBQ. It comfortably accommodated our group of 10.

The customer service is very poor. Despite emails and telephone calls to find out how to check in, it would until the evening before for there to be any contact. I have since contacted them regarding one of the beds which was broken and had no response. This was sent on the first day that we stayed there and having now finished our break, I have still not had a response. I also had to pay an additional fee for cleaning due to having dogs. I was fine with this until I walked bare footed around the house. My feet were black with dirt so the floor has obviously not been properly cleaned for some time. I emailed the picture (which I have attached) to show how filthy my feet were walking bare footed and so far, I have again had no response. Why should I be paying extra for cleaning when it is apparent that is not being done correctly anyway. It was frustrating as we loved the property apart from this but it could be so much better by getting the basics right.

Lovely old house with lots of original features and modern decor. Bright, spacious and comfortable. Back garden was great for sitting and dining Al fresco.

Family friendly house in excellent location

House was spacious and in an excellent location. Kitchen was a good size and well equipped. Free teas and coffees were a bonus. Seats at table a little uncomfortable when sitting for longer periods but was a good size for everyone to sit around. The oven only had 2 shelves so a little awkward when cooking for a large number of people but we managed. Living room a good size with large sofa and large TV. Large selection of board games available to play. WIFI was good in all areas of the house. TV and Xbox with lots of games on a little landing off 2 of the bedrooms was handy. Garden was nice size, with good seating area and got the sun for a lot of the day. Most bedrooms had plenty room a couple were bit smaller and could be improved with a bit more storage. Town of Kirkcudbright was lovely, everyone we met was really friendly. We ate out a few times and was always nice. Tesco is a 2 minute walk from the house and is pretty well stocked for a small shop.

Kirkcudbright break.

The house was excellent, loads of room for everyone, and spotlessly clean. Everything that we required was available. The welcome bottle of wine and chocolates always adds to that special touch of thought. All bedrooms were great, and everyone commented on how comfy the beds were. The garden was enclosed, with ample seats for everyone, especially when the sun was out all weekend. There were lots of places in the surrounding area to visit,i.e., coffee shops, bars and restaurants. Having the local supermarket about 1 minute walk around the corner was added bonus. Not associated with the house, but at the end of the lane, there was a local bowling club whom we would like to give a big thank you . We asked if we could play (no one in our group has ever tried). They were so helpful, provided bowls, and really welcomed us. Absolutely fab afternoon, finished off with some beers. The round of golf was played at the local golf club on our 1st day, in Kirkcudbright, great course and fabulous lunch provided.

Disappointing customer service but a beautiful property

The design and decoration of the property is amazing, as well as the location.

Not the property in particular but the customer service was disappointing. When we arrived at the property at 4:30pm, it had not been cleaned from the last tenants. I contacted the owner who prefusely apologised and said as a gesture of good will, they would cover the cost of our meal whilst it was being cleaned and would transfer the money over the next day once I sent them the bill. So me and my Family (party of 10) went to the local pub to get some food. The Bill came to £192.40 (which for a party of 10 coming to £19.24 per head, I deemed reasonable). I sent the receipt to the owner as they asked me to do so. It took a week to get any money back which came to £78.35. This covered the cost of the drinks but not the meal which was agreed in their original gesture of good will. Although still a nice gesture to refund some money, it did not cover what was originally agreed and the timeframes of when we would be refunded were not met.

We would love to return in the future.

This is a beautiful home in an excellent location and is very well equipped for a large group of people. There are loads of things to do in and around the area for people of all ages (our family age range was 9-76 years).
