The relaxing tranquil getaway we needed

It was very spacious, had smart tvs, good cooking facilities and nice views. The staff were brilliant even decorated it as a surprise for my friends birthday. The shuttle service to and from the lodges to the hotel bar/restaurant is fantastic. We hope to comeback in the summer at some point to be able to enjoy the balcony/decking and views more!

Only a few little things (that won’t be stopping us from coming back again) the dining room chairs were a bit worn and the microwave wasn’t cleaned but they are minor things they didn’t really bother us!

Lovely spacious modern property with everything you need. Beautiful setting.

Mattress was too firm. Neither of us slept well and woke up with bad backs. Fire alarm is a little too close to cooker 🙈

Somewhat disappointed and luckily tyres survived

Spacious lodge. Nice surroundings . Some nice additions like Alexa and tassimo . Complimentary tea coffee pods etc.

Check in 4pm but had to wait as not ready. Road to lodge was full of deep potholes so terrible for small vehicles. We asked to have heating adjusted as temperature was around 26/27 permanently so we were all struggling even at night. Unfortunately this didn’t make a difference. Lodge kitchen equipment was the minimum - not even a spare teaspoon so not great for self catering. TV is limited and pixelated constantly so unable to watch . No Netflix etc.

Luxury in nature.

Property is in a beautiful location, is well presented and equipped throughout. Staff were amazing.

My only issue was the downstairs neibours, who were noisy until the early hours, I have not let this affect my rating as staff did their best to help and solve the issue and it’s a more people are stupif issue then there being anything wrong with the venue.

A few cons but would still stay again!

Loved the immediate setting, place is really large, lovely and bright. Having the balcony was amazing, sat out there for hours watching the bunnies and pheasants. Bed was comfortable, was great having aircon in the bedroom. Alexa speaker in the living room which was a bonus.

Wasn't keen on the road to get to it, and directions weren't particularly clear. Golf course literally surrounds it, so if you're not a golfer its actually quite annoying. Not being sure exactly where we could walk and listening to some of them be quite loud was a bit off putting. Booklet states to make sure you keep to golf course etiquette but thats not clear to people who don't golf. Air con is only in the bedroom and the stairway to get up to our lodge was disgustingly hot. Wish the tvs had been smart tvs, the basic freeview was limiting. Despite this - I really would still stay again! I would just be a bit more prepared with a firestick or dvd player.

Nice place but could do with minor improvements to make it amazing!

Nice big space for my family of five.

It’s a shame as the living spaces were clean but let down by the fact there was really bad limescale on the taps and mould in the bathrooms. Would have been. I’ve to have a few basics in the kitchen like salt and pepper. We were on the ground floor lodge and we could hear every footstep the people in the lodge above us. It was not great in that sense. The staff were all lovely and helpful.

A great place but it depends on quiet neighbours.

It was an amazing place however for us there was a small problem was noise. This was not because the people upstairs were noisy, it was because you could hear every single movement. Including every footstep. This may not be a problem for some people but we all went for peace and quiet. If you do not like walking etc above you, then the rooms could be annoying.

Lovely stay but could have been better

Loved the surroundings and the property itself and the seclusion.

Lovely location but you can really hear all the neighbours in the neighboring terraces and also the fire alarm on neighboring lodges went off at least 3 times during our stay and one of these was at 07.00am Sunday morning so it disturbed the tranquility of our stay

Overall, it was excellent. I loved the room and the balcony.

We only did dinner at the hotel. Just wondered about a few things 1) would it be possible to either provide water in the rooms or at least a dispenser where these are available 2) have the key available at the lodge through coded access etc. 3) can the shuttle run also at daytime for those with heavy luggage?

That I had to deliver the key back to recption and the shuttle did not run at day time.

We had a pleasant stay in spite of the irritating faults.

I liked the modern layout, the air conditioning in the bedrooms and the balcony with table and chairs so we could eat outside. The car could be parked close to the apartment for unloading, then one car could be left next to the house. It was quiet.

There was WiFi and all our devices could connect to it BUT the connection often 'dropped out'. This was reported to Reception. There is a weak mobile signal. The oven temperature and function figures have rubbed off so that took a bit of guess work to use! The fridge had a broken door shelf, this is the important shelf as it is where you store your milk and open sparkling wine bottles, neither of these items store well horizontally on the inner shelves. Again this was reported to Reception when we left.

Peaceful haven

The lodge was very spacious and set in a peaceful, rural location on the golf course but close enough to the main hotel to use the facilities. If you don't feel like walking to the hotel, it takes about 10 minutes, they offer a free taxi service after 7pm.

While the lodge was beautiful it was in need of some tlc. A lot of the floor tiles were cracked and the decking area needs the wood treating. Also the TV could be better. That said the overall feeling of the place was luxurious and I would love to stay there again.

Fantastic Stay! Would visit again!

We stayed in the 2 room apartment lodge and it was beautiful. Great views and very well decorated and presented. Had all the amenities we needed. Very spacious. Would fit a family of 5 easily.

The walls are quite thin. We could hear the people above us walking around quite clearly. They were pretty quiet so it was fine but if we had noisy neighbours I can imagine that would have been very unpleasant.

Modern layout, plenty of parking. Tea, coffee and fresh milk provided - also ice in the freezer (nice touch!) luxury bedding, plenty of towels. 2 bathrooms - Alexa, modern appliances. Peace and quiet. BBQ area Wildlife, rabbits, deer etc

A little confusing to find! Don’t follow the SAT NAV! Make sure you follow the sign to SBN off the A134 and the get directions from Hotel

Very Good.

The lodges sit in an amazingly green golf resort, with three lakes, enormous grasses, old trees so nature is surrounding you all around. the lodges have large porches and wide vitrinas so you can sit in the lodge and enjoy nature while having your meal or just resting. The equipment inside the lodges is clean and new and everything is well maintained.

As guests of ther lodges you are allowed to use the hotel's pool, but the hours for children in the pool are very limited. The receptionist wrote down for us the allocated pool hours for children. We arrived at the allocated hour that she wrote down, only to find out that the pool's manager changed the hours for children and that the receptionist was wrong. They didn't let the children in although they were wearing their swimsuits and were very eager to have a swim. No one, either from the hotel nor the pool, was ready to acknowledge the mistake that was done by them, and we had to go back without entering the pool. The children were very upset. A littel flexability would be very much appreciated.

Beautiful location and grounds. The one bedroom apartment had lots of space to sit and relax. The views out of the windows were excellent and the balcony was a bonus. The Lodge offered excellent value for money given the space and fully fitted kitchen.

Plenty of room and a lovely balcony looking onto the trees.

The location of the actual lodges were a bit trick to negotiate even in our small car as the approach was down a narrow single track road.

Beautiful setting/poor house keeping

Beautiful large bedrooms with air-conditioning and TVs in the rooms. Full Kitchen. Comfy sofa. It was set on a wonderful golf course with lots of trees in a very peaceful setting. The Staff were very helpful and responded immediately to issues. HOWEVER••• The company need to change the room Cleaning staff!! The lights on the wall had cobwebs all over them. The cutlery was filthy. The door handles to every room were sticky and dirty. There were smears on the mirrors and even poo left in the toilet when we arrived!!! There were also many cracked floor tiles, and the trimmings around the kitchen cabinets kept falling on the floor!! Also, the TV aerial kept losing signal even though the weather was calm and not at all possible to watch ITV1. THESE THINGS MATTER IF PAYING £180 per night!! Also, on the cold night when we arrived, the bedroom heating did not work although staff came immediately and brought us out a radiator until it could be fixed.

Excellent stay.

We love the lodge. Beautiful surroundings with gorgeous trees. Spotted some rabbits jumping around in the fields. Beds are comfortable. They have prepared the sofa beds ahead of our arrival so we didnt hv to wait for it . Fully equipped kitchen so we could prepare our dinner every night. Toilets are good eventhough the water pressure is abit low. No problem in requesting fresh towels after our 2nd night of stay.

Its a bit far from colchester town but we had a car so it was not a big issue.

Location good, lodge needs a refresh in decoration and cleanliness

Location of the lodge was lovely, peaceful and relaxing

Cleaning was not up to standard, a previous persons clothes left on the back of the bedroom door. Sofas shabby with a few marks, walls also were marked. Lots of cobwebs high up, on beams and ceiling. Lots of flies in the lodge, so felt even more unhygienic on work surfaces, dining table.

Need to upgrade the irons We were at a wedding and needed an iron but the one in the room was no good. Very cheap and didn’t work well at all other than that everything was perfect
