Retiro VII - Práctico, moderno y en plena ciudad de Madrid

Very good. Near from the train station and the airport. It’s very clean and comfortable.

Very good location, close to Parque del Retiro, Museo Reina Sofia, Atocha Train station. Comfortable beds (if you like hard mattresses like we do), very clean. Bathroom well stocked. Separate WC, which is great. Good kitchen (may need a kettle and a toaster) Great supermarket near the Parking Garca -Reina Cristina, and good café for breakfast not far.

We found the access to the building and the appartment difficult and user unfriendly. The booking itself was sort of strange with the owner insisting we should send him 'selfies' even though we had sent copies of our passports. Never heard of that before. Then somebody had to meet us at the appartment to 'identify'us. This person had a problem and could not turned up.. The owner sent somebody else, who arrived about 30 minutes later, not knowing really why she was there! The explanations about how to find the appartment in the building were confusing, we eventually found it. You need wifi or data to access the apartment door, otherwise, I wonder if you can go in at all? Very frustrating after a long road trip. Not user friendly for foreign travellers, if they arrive and run off data, I would assume... Parking: we arrived by car from Portugal, and asked the owner where to park.The owner merely sent a general site on parking in Madrid, not very useful. For your info, there is a paying parking on the very same street, about 3 blocks away, called Garca-Reina Sofia. Book it online, it is cheaper, and make sure your car is allowed to go into this area as it is an environmental limited access zone. Our Portuguese car could, fortunately. Otherwise,google Urban Access Regulations in Europe and choose Spain/Madrid. The apartment itself is fine enough, no soul, but useful for what we had to do in town, a long corridor with the bedrooms, kitchen and sitting room on the side. We found ALL the radiators fully on (the energy bill!) and lowered them off to their minimum. A bit noisy in the morning, could hear the neighbors.
