Beautiful lodge, relaxing stay

Really enjoyed our stay in Catstone Lodge. There was homemade brown bread and breakfast supplies in the fridge. The place was spotless and so so peaceful and quiet. The decor and space was amazing. We could self check in and the host was easily reachable by phone if we had needed to. The dogs were so lovely and friendly.

The loveliest place we've ever stayed.

We selected the Catstone Lodge for two reasons... aesthetic & privacy. This place has both. The lodge is tucked away inside a forest glade. From the outside, if you didn't know it was there, you'd never find it (to be clear, I'm mentioning this as a positive). It's so hidden away, it almost feels like passing through a portal into another world when you enter the property. It sounds silly, but it's the only way to describe much transformation there is from the outside. Once you're on the property, the grounds and house are nothing short of breathtaking. My partner and I were blown away by how well-kept the garden and houses are, and the efforts made by the hosts, David & Niamh, are clear to see. From the little retaining walls to the garden paths, everything was so beautiful that my partner and I would frequently stay outside until after sunset just to enjoy it all. While the outside may look charming and rustic, the interiors are something else. The rustic charm is still present, but there are just enough modern conveniences to make everything that little bit more comfortable. Speaking of the hosts, they were delightful people. I should add this was our first trip to Ireland, and Niamh was the first person we met and had a genuine conversation with after we arrived - something I'm sure she didn't know or expect at the time. That said, I will add that she set the tone for a wonderful vacation.

If there were anything to suggest for improvement, it would be the gate. The gate needs to be opened & closed manually to get the car onto the property, which is understandable. At most, it's mildly inconvenient, and not something I'd consider a high priority.

Perfect

Place was perfect, cozy and extremely quiet. Meet at the front gate by two lovely and friendly dogs. Couldn’t have been happier with the weekend. Any minor issue we had was fixed straight away by Niamh. Would definitely stay again.

Beautiful spot, away from daily stress

This is a beautiful, beautiful place to stay. Very well renovated and taken care of. Away from everything. You definitely need a car, motocycle of bike to go to sightseeing. But if you look for peace and relaxation... perfect spot. Great host, they provide you with a freshly homemade bread, eggs, milk, tea, coffee, jelly and even bacon to make yourself a great breakfast. Absolute qiete around you, beautiful garden, If the weather allows you can sit outside and enjoy the green lush nature. We loved it. Will come back.

A restful contented stay which felt like a treat at a non exorbitant price

A beautiful breakfast was waiting for me in the fridge with fresh homemade brown bread on the counter! the open layout and feel of the home from home atmosphere kept a smile on my face that lasted through till the next morning,. The peace and quiet, the huge bubble bath... with hot water that never ran out may have played a part too! The host was so welcoming and has a genuine passion for this stunning home and it shows in all the details

Relaxing and luxurious

Beautiful space. Much bigger than the pictures! Excellent communication from Niamh and we had everything that we needed. Bacon, eggs and fresh bread were left for us which was a lovely touch. But the BEST part was opening the curtains in the morning to the gorgeous Storm waiting to say hello 😊.

Wonderful, hope to stay again!

Wonderful, unique little hideaway. Very private despite being adjoined to the owners property. You have your own entrance and parking space. A warm welcome was balanced with space to allow for privacy. The photos do not do this place justice.

A beautiful place to stay. We had fantastic hosts from the owners to the two very friendly huskies we felt instantly welcome. The facilities were amazing, and the quality of the house was fantastic. The attention to detail in the property and the service from our host was second to none.

A beautiful location. We were greeted by two very placid huskies. The lodge itself is lovely old and rustic on the outside and very clean, neat and romantic on the inside with the big fireplace and studio like living area. There was fresh brown bread 🍞 which was much appreciated. Niamh came to the rescue in the early hours of the morning when the lightning struck, and there was a power outage on the area.

Superb! The whole place is nice, spacious. The host Lady is extremly kind. Very kind dogs. We enjoyed our stay a lot.

This B&B was the perfect place to stay!

Absolutely BEAUTIFUL B&B!!! We felt like royalty staying here! We never expected a large vaulted livingroom/bedroom, a stocked full working kitchen and a WONDERFUL bathroom with a deep oval tub!

Fantastic Irish countryside experience.

Absolutely wonderful, peaceful and private. The hosts were extremely a friendly and helpful. Mature gardens and wildlife abound. The hosts went out of their way with a loaf of fresh baked bread, eggs, bacon, milk. We would definitely stay here again. so quaint and so much character.

Perfect country escape

The property has been finished to a really high standard and is comfortable, warm and welcoming. We felt instantly relaxed on checking in! The kitchen is well equipped, the bed is super comfortable and the huge bath tub and log burner are great ‘extras’.

Loved the quiet country location, ideal place to relax after a long journey. Loved the kitchen stocked with eggs & Irish bacon, milk & tea and fresh brown bread to prepare our own breakfast in the morning! Perfect stopping point on our way from Dublin airport about a 1.5 hr drive. An hour and a half on to Galway the next day.

Driving a little tricky at dark, thank goodness for a the eircode & google maps!

Fairytale escape

Everything about Carstone Lodge was amazing.From Niamhs and the dogs warm welcome to the stunning studio that awaited us.We were amazed by the beautiful surrounding .The studio blew us away. Such a fantastic magical romantic escape.Highly recommend.

Fabulous experience overall

Amazing stay! Room was spotless, breakfast bits in fridge were a lovely surprise. Fresh brown bread was very tasty. lovely scenery around the property, could not recommend more, hosts very welcoming and informative about the property as well as very friendly dogs!

Only thing I found could be improved would be a blind on the skylight.

Sentirsi a casa ❣️

Tutto, questo lodge è stato davvero un sogno per il nostro week end. Struttura pulita, ordinata, come sentirsi a casa. Ci aveva fatto trovare anche delle uova, pane e bacon per la colazione, e anche della legna per accendere il fuoco avendo il camino. Il proprietario gentilissimo ci ha risposto a tutte le nostre domande. La posizione era perfetta per noi, perché siamo atterrati a Dublino ed era proprio a metà strada tra Dublino e Galway. Il plus sono stati gli adorabili cani Snowy and Sky, bellissimi e dolcissimi. Quando verremmo in Irlanda torneremo sicuramente in questo lodge. 10 stelle ☀️ grazie per tutto

…es gibt nicht wirklich etwas auszusetzen, eher im Gegenteil, selbst ein kleiner Imbiss für das Abendessen und das Frühstück war im Kühlschrank zu finden

… die Lage, noch dazu im Vergleich zu vorher einigen Unterkünften an der Westküste, ist eben etwas Abseits von Allem
