We recently stayed in Beachfront Villas (Rooms 501 and 502). Overall, we had a pleasant stay and there are some genuine highlights, particularly the staff. However, we also experienced a number of issues that, in our opinion, make it difficult to justify a rate of around $500 USD per night or the hotel's 5-star positioning. Pros * Outstanding staff – The team were consistently warm, friendly and helpful throughout our stay. A special thank you to Ahmie (Amy), Guest Relations Manager, whose professionalism and genuine care really stood out. * Clean and spacious rooms – The villas are well presented, spacious and kept very clean. * Excellent in-room massages – Great quality and excellent value for money. * Good breakfast selection – Plenty of variety with both Western and Asian options. * Relaxed atmosphere – When it was quiet, the hotel had a pleasant and relaxing feel. Cons * Significant noise around the Beachfront Villas – This was the biggest downside of our stay. * Scuba diving tanks being loaded from around 7:00am most mornings. * Constant dive boat activity from the adjacent pier throughout the day. * Aircraft taking off and landing overhead from early morning until around 10:00pm due to the nearby airport. * Music from the neighbouring beach club during much of the afternoon and evening. * Room 501 is next to the pool maintenance area, resulting in additional staff noise and occasional unpleasant odours near the entrance. * Public beach access – The beachfront is public, meaning people regularly walked directly in front of our villa. On one occasion, a group of around eight people camped in front of our room for most of the day, using the swings and beachfront facilities, which meant they were unavailable for hotel guests and children. We also didn't notice any visible beach security. * Hotel app needs improvement – The app was unreliable during our stay. Responses were very slow or non-existent, and ordering room service through it was often frustrating. * Housekeeping hours – Housekeeping finishes at 4:00pm, which made it difficult to have the room serviced later in the day. * Busy breakfast restaurant – Although the food selection is good, the restaurant becomes quite crowded after around 9:30am, making for a less relaxing experience. * Beds are quite firm – This is subjective, but we found the mattresses firmer than we would have liked. Overall Culture Samui has a number of strengths, particularly its genuinely excellent staff, clean rooms and in-room spa treatments. However, the amount of surrounding noise, unrestricted public access directly in front of the beachfront villas, and some operational inconsistencies meant it didn't provide the peaceful luxury experience we expected from a 5-star beachfront resort at this price point. We hope the hotel continues to improve these areas, as there is real potential here. We'd happily return if some of these issues, particularly those affecting the Beachfront Villas were addressed.

This was, without question, the most disappointing hotel stay we've ever had. From the moment we arrived, we were greeted by a strong smell of sewage around the hotel. It quickly became apparent why – there are major roadworks and drainage/sewage works directly outside the property. The smell was constant and completely ruined the atmosphere. Had we known this before booking, we would never have chosen this hotel. What's particularly disappointing is that there is no mention anywhere on the hotel's website or booking pages about the extensive construction work taking place outside or the associated sewage smell. Guests should be made aware of major disruptions like this before they book so they can make an informed decision. Our room also had an ant infestation, with ants crawling around the room and onto our belongings. Travelling with two young children, this was extremely worrying and unacceptable. I've attached photos to show the issue. When we raised our concerns, the hotel refused to provide a refund. They did offer us an upgraded room, which we appreciated, but it did nothing to address the underlying problems. An upgraded room cannot make up for the poor condition of the property, the unpleasant smell throughout the grounds, and the disappointing overall experience. Breakfast was another huge let-down. The food was regularly stone cold, especially the eggs, and there was very little variety each morning. Serving trays were frequently left empty, and we repeatedly had to ask staff to refill basic items. On one occasion, after asking for more hash browns, a family of four was brought just two hash browns, which summed up the lack of attention to guests throughout breakfast. The only real positive was the view, which was beautiful. Unfortunately, that's the only reason I'm not giving the hotel zero stars if that were possible. Between the constant sewage smell, undisclosed roadworks, ant infestation, poor breakfast, and management's refusal to properly resolve our concerns, this was easily the worst hotel experience we've had. I would not recommend this property to anyone, particularly families with young children, until the construction is finished and these issues have been addressed. Transparency with guests is the very least the hotel should provide.

Excellent stay! The staff were incredibly friendly, attentive, and always ready to help with a smile. The resort was spotless, well maintained, and had great facilities. Everything exceeded our expectations, and we would happily stay here again. Highly recommended!

Rooms are nice. Staff is super friendly and helpful. It is located not in a great area, seems inconvenient. Also, very close to airport so expect to hear planes.
