Villa Glysteri Large Private Pool Walk to Beach A C - 2125

The villa was charming in many ways, it was very clean, the pool was in good condition, and Glisteri beach was very nice. We were not told that the water was not drinkable and no bottled water was provided to get us “started” until we could purchase some. Likewise, there were no basic supplies in the kitchen such as coffee or filters, or trash can liners. The distance to town and grocery stores isn’t that far, but if you’re not used to driving on narrow mountain roads that have hairpin turns and that are quite steep in some areas it can be quite harrowing when another vehicle comes around the bend at high speed. Count on 20 minute drive the 1st time. Though the owner recommended stopping for “supplies” before they proceeding to the villa, we had no room in the rental car for anything besides the four of us and our suitcases (I wouldn’t recommend anything larger than a compact auto because the roads are so narrow). Having rented several properties in Europe, I was surprised at the lack of basics provided. We respected the owner’s request not to remove towels from the house so we purchased beach towels in town. A house with a pool and a nearby beach (about 1/2 km away) should provide beach towels because they take up lots of space in luggage. There are no instructions on how to operate the washing machine (it is labeled in German) so we used google translate, but it didn’t spin properly and we had to wring out clothes before hanging to dry.
