Ananda Beach Hotel

Beautifully crafted and maintained resort right on the beach in Paje. We stayed in a family room on the balcony and enjoyed the views. Staff were very kind and helpful. Food at the restaurant was good. There is a no alcohol policy at the hotel, but we saw many guests ignoring that and drinking their own booze outside their rooms so I’m not sure how strictly this rule is taken. A little frustrating that even the restaurant didn’t serve alcohol, and unfortunately meant we chose to eat elsewhere for our evening meals… despite this slight annoyance we would definitely come back again!

Everything about this place was amazing. Elena helped us a lot even for the issues that not related to hotel. I would def go back to Ananda if I get back to Paje again. Highly recommend it

Perfect for solo travel or family vacation. Have it all: location , yummy food at excellent prices, activities like cayac, e-Bike, SUP.. or chance to learn kite or develop your skills . My room waa B2 - a bohemic look with great comfort, clean and welcoming.. The place has that extra vibe that makes you fall in love with the hotel, Paje, Zanzibar. Kids are safe and have the beach to run on and interact with local kids. They can play freely and parents can relax. Easy to make friends , rest, disconnect and enjoy the gorgeous view of white sands and blue waters especially on low tides. I will strongly recommend the walk on the low tides. For food : try the lobster, the falafel, the smoothie bowls, the catch of the day , the octopus salad .. so hard to decide on a favorite ..HAVE FUN .. I guarantee you will want to return 💙🧜🏻‍♀️

On arrival the hotel looks lovely… once settled, the bedsheets are rough like sandpaper, the bed as hard as rock & the noise from outside is unbearable at night. Especially when the outdoor cleaners come and rake your doormat for 5 minutes straight at 5:30am EVERY MORNING, and then when the cleaner comes with the hose and hoses down all your shoes you’ve left on the door step, leaving everything wet through outside your door, again at silly o clock in the morning. And then don’t forget the mites / bugs INSIDE the bathroom door scratching and eating its way out of the door ALL night which is loud. Let’s not leave out the restaurant, offering simple dishes etc wraps, burgers & chips - very boring & bland food. And for breakfast you’re allowed to order 1 egg and 1 coffee each alongside the buffet, but no staff will to approach anyone to order eggs. It’s advertising as a lovely luxury hotel, when in reality it’s nothing like that. Would not recommended. However it’s located great on the beach.
