About this villa rental

A little holiday gem! 81 Eastgate is a classic Edwardian villa situated in the heart of the small market town of Cowbridge in South Wales and is located on the main and only shopping street with a big choice of restaurants, wine bars, pubs and bistros - many within a hundred yards. The villa is decorated and comfortably furnished in the Art Nouveau style and has a lovely peaceful garden to the rear.
On the ground floor there is a principal front reception room with stunning fireplace, a dining room, a conservatory (garden room) and kitchen and utility room
On the first floor there are two double bedrooms and also a single bedroom furnished with bunk beds, plus a principal bathroom with bath and an ensuite bathroom/dressing room with shower
On the 2nd floor there is a play room with pool table
The house is fully equiped to a high standard with wi-fi and television
The double doors from the garden room lead out to the mature and private gardens. Features include flag stoned patio with outside furniture, barbeque, al fresco 'Italianate' dining table with benches, outdoor table tennis and a shaded arbour for quiet relaxation.
There is parking for a car at the rear of the garden
Cowbridge is very conveniently located near the A48 main road, so you're only a quick car journey away from the centre of Cardiff, the beautiful Vale of Glamorgan coast line or well placed to travel further west to visit Swansea or the Gower Peninsular. Our favourite beaches include Southerndown, Ogmore by sea, Merthyr Mawr (with their famous sand dunes) and Porthcawl. There are three golf courses close to Cowbridge
A trip to Duffryn Gardens is a must! - a National Trust House with extensive and very famous formal gardens. Cowbridge physic garden is a delight, just inside the old town walls
The City of Cardiff, being only 20 minutes away, holds innumerable attractions; shopping centres, dozens of restaurants, theatres, cinemas, exhibitions, stadiums, Cardiff Castle, The Millennium Concert and Opera house, Marinas and Cardiff Bay ... the list goes on!

This house worked very well for us. Location was great. Chriistmas parade passed our front door. Handy to stores and numerous coffee shop and restaurants. It was very spacious and had several lovely old pieces of furniture. Kitchen well supplied. Did have a problem with a leaking shower which was responded to the same day. So no concerns there. This is not a fully "modernized house" which for us was part of what we enjoyed about it Loved the heated tile floor in the kitchen. Weather and time of year did not work for us to use the back garden nor did we use the conservatory area as much as we might have. If looking for accommodation in Cowbridge in the future, I would be happy to choose this house again.

Beautiful house and lovely setting in the old town of Cowbridge. Most of the house was very clean - though the skirting boards in most rooms were a bit dirty. We also had a drainage problem while we were there but it was successfully dealt with very promptly. We really enjoyed our stay there and the accommodation and equipment was excellent.

This is a lovely little property! The town where it is located has plenty of shops & a good mix of different cuisines at the local restaurants. There is even a castle ruin you can visit less than a mile walk from the property. Check in & check out was quick and easy. The property manager was very prompt in answering any questions we had via the VRBO messaging system & the property owners direct telephone number was provided for any after-hours issues that might arise (we didn't have any!) We rented a car & took day trips from the property. We checked out the Nash Point Lighthouses & a portion of the Wales Coast path. We also visited a variety of Cadw properties. Check them out online at Cadw.gov.wales to plan your visit. Cadw offers an Explorer Pass which is a great value if castle bagging is on your to-do list. You can get to the Breacon Beacons National Park in about an hour from here. Check out the Breacon Mountain Railway for a leisurely day out or look into climbing Pen Y Fan and the neighboring peaks if you're into hill walking. We spent 10 full days here & it wasn't enough time to do all the things in the area that we were aware of & I am sure there are tons more to do that we don't know about. 10 out of 10! Would recommend!!!

When we arrived the property was not ready for us. The beds were not made and there was a bag of rubbish in the kitchen. In addition the garden and parking area was overgrown. All of this was sorted after a phone call to the owner who arranged for a cleaner the same evening and a gardener two days later. In addition prior to the stay I followed a link see the trip detail and kept getting messages that I had no trips planned. When I put up a question about this I got a message from the owner that everything was Ok for our arrival. Not the case (see above) It seems to me that there was a lack of communication about getting the property ready. One final point is some of the paving in the garden needs sorting as they are trip hazards.

We enjoyed every aspect of this property apart from one issue, which were uncomfortable mattresses in the two main bedrooms, not to be recommended for anyone with back problems. Please provide more information regarding rubbish disposal.

Great location on the High Street to be able to walk to all the little independent shops, cafes, Waitrose supermarket and Tesco express and the lovely Physic Gardens all less than 20 minutes walk. Also great for driving to see Caerphilly Castle, Mumbles lighthouse, Penarth Pier all around half an hour away. Parking was very easy - unpacked using the space at the front of the house then moved the car round the back to the private space off road. Property was very clean, bedding lovely and fresh, lots of space and had all you needed in the kitchen including a dishwasher! Sunroom was our favourite place to chill. We enjoyed having the pool table on the top floor and the table tennis table in the garden - and Alexa was a fun bonus. Although the fittings and furniture are a bit worn it was only one factor in what was a great holiday.
