Shakespeare House

The king suite was spacious, comfortable, and dark/quiet at night. Super clean. Fridge and water kettle with extra counter and sink made basic food prep easy. Good Wifi and smart TV. Easy to walk to town and Milford Sound day cruise departures. Great tourist advice. Parking fine. Do understand that our spacious room is not the same for all. A peek into another showed a much more compact arrangement. Breakfast was a cereal, white toast/jam, and yogurt operation, but we supplemented in the romm to meet our tastes. Extras - like omelets - were available for extra $.

The room was very clean, the staff were friendly and helpful. Lost one star mostly for the bathroom. The sink was ridiculously tiny and there was no electrical outlet. They have an odd requirement that you have to verbally tell the staff that you want a cooked breakfast the next morning, however, when we rang the bell to tell them the afternoon before no one answered. We then got involved chatting with another guest, which was very nice, but forgot to try the bell again. We had to leave earlier than anticipated the next morning so we could get breakfast in town. Other than that, staff was great and attentive. Don’t totally fault them, it’s an odd policy.

This is a wonderful place to stay in Te Anau. The hosts Nathan & Liz are full of helpful info and tips to enjoy your stay. Breakfast is healthy and good variety. The room is clean neat and homey.

The room was spotless and the owners are wonderful and welcoming. They have provided a lovely little community kitchen where we met many other friendly travellers. We thoroughly enjoyed being there. It is also a very nice location near the lake and restaurants, etc.
