Rooms were quite noisy, it’s an old building so rodents of the loft were making noise - but rooms were cle

Hotel was very nice, really well presented, staff friendly. Lovely place, would definitely reccomend it. However the restaurant didnt work for us, dinner menu was a little unusual, food under cooked, didnt agree with us. The 15Euro breakfast was a few slices of ham / cheese and bread, which was way below expectations for this price really not what we expected. our opinion is definitely stay here, drink here, sleep here, enjoy here, but eat elsewhere.

The description of the town sounds more intersting than it realy was. Spent one night, was ok. Stairs are realy steep. The restaurant on the main floor, tbe food was realy tasty.

Very interesting and memorable property in central Baarle. The rooms are right above a restaurant/bar, but there were not any noise issues. There were wavy hallways and floors and the building was in somewhat poor condition. Despite that, we found it to be a fun and memorable stay. The room was a nice size and the staff were great. Reasonably priced.

This hotel has a famous restaurant which is built on the border downstairs. Of courses, visitors come to Harley Nassau and Barrel Herlog is mostly for seeing the enclaves.

The main inside dining room of the restaurant is lovely. The room was not bad, the bathroom (with bathtub) was fantastic, easily the highlight of our stay. On the downside, every single interaction with the staff was weird, from the moment they showed us our room, to trying to ask for a glass of tap water with our 60 euro meal (they gave us one the night before, the reason for refusing the second night was they already give away so much); a bit of a hard sell when I tried to cancel the 13 euro p.p breakfast after trying it one day (skip it); trying to store our bags somewhere for an hour when we checked out....it was like everything was a hardship for the staff. One waiter was pretty good, the rest seemed like they were being held against their will.

Our room was spacious, entrance to it at the side of the building, not the main door, and there was a very unpleasant odor in the corridor of steep stairs leading up to it. Room ok. Location of hotel was good, in the town center. The food at the hotel restaurant was very good, also the service.

Stayed one night as passing through on a cycle tour. The staff were friendly and the room was surprisingly, well, roomy. We had our evening meal there too in the sun room. A good choice on the menu and staff were attentive but not overbearing. The room faces south west so gets the evening sun. Breakfast is Dutch continental; an egg and cheese/ham and a variety of breads. Set us up for the day. Tot ziens!

Nice beds and good decor.Bathroom; hand held shower in bath with no shower curtain - bit tricky trying not to get the floor soaked.Not sure if its a terribly British thing to expect, but no tea/coffee making facilities in room, and our hand soap was removed by cleaners during the day with no replacement - bit odd.Den Engel has the makings of a good hotel but not quite there yet, I saw another review where they described it as a restaurant that happens to have a couple of rooms which I feel is quite apt.However, perfect location in the centre of the town, bus stop right outside, and tucked just next to one of the towns famous borders!
